They make us use Microsoft-handicapped
computers at work, but we don't have to bring them into the
house. Tom likes Macintosh computers.
They're reliable, the interface is consistent, and when you plug
things together, they work. The new Mac OSX (pronounced 'ten'
and not 'ex') operating system is based on the world standard, UNIX, and it's simply

Tom's not a newbie to computing; he spent the last five years of a science teaching career as Bowie High School's Computer Coordinator, keeping machines and people happy. He has been programming and working on computers, from micros to mainframes, since 1980. Tom keeps in touch with his geek side by using X-Windows. He enjoys porting Linux applications to Mac OSX; sometimes that's easy and sometimes it takes some work, but nearly everything written for Linux will run on the Mac. Macintosh on the WebThis list of resources should convince anybody that the Mac community is a lively place with plenty of resources.Hardcore Mac addicts should visit this site for the latest developments. |
