Cocoon Nebula

A 6x120second LRGB of the cocoon nebula taken with an 11" scope and MX7c ccd camera at f3.0 . AA 3.0 was used for acquisition & processing , guiding was done with Star 2000 interface . The Cocoon nebula or IC 5146 is a stellar nusery containing emission and reflection nebulous material located in the constellation Cygnus . It is aprox. 4000 light years away and in extra wide fields of view gives the illusion of clearing a path thru dense stellar material . In fact it seams that the dark material which appears as a path is actually material from which the nebula gets its source . A small portion of the "path" I spoke of can be seen at the bottom of this photo !
