Helix Nebula
An integration of the Helix nebula taken in 2005 with an MX7C ccd camera and 11" scope in moderately light polluted skies . This is a 6 X5 minute integration taken in Colchester,Vt. during the cold winter . Skies were at best fair . AstroArt 3.0 was used as the software to acquire and process the image along with Star 2000 to guide the scope . The gradient seen at upper left is a result of the camera swapping its pixels from guiding to imaging . This process is used in some ccd cameras to allow guiding and imaging thru one camera and one scope at the same time . They are called interlined ccd's . An amazing breakthru in amateur astro-imaging from Sony .
