M15

An image of the globular cluster M15 taken with an St5c ccd camera fitted with an st5 color filter wheel and 11"scope ! The globular is located in the constellation Pegasus . It is quite large at 12.3' with an integrated magnitude of around 6.3 . This puts it just beyond naked eye visibility but it is easily seen in binnoculars. This image is an LRGB with 2 min each for the RGB and a total 4 min for the Luminosity using the "Track and accumulate " function in CCdops from Sbig .Individual exposures were twenty seconds each ! The way "Track & accumulate" works is the camera takes a predefined length of exposure then re-aligns the image just prior to the next exposure until the desired "total"exposure time is acquired .The images were then flat field corrected ,scaled and then imported into photoshop where the RGB & Luminance were then combined to produce the "true color " image.
