The "Omega" nebula in a close up mosaic created using 9 different images taken with my ST5C ccd camera & 11" scope then combined using "Gimp " for windows. There are three regions in this image around the perimeter that are starless due to the fitting of the component images. They have been filled with the black background for aesthetic reasons. I didn't like the way white or any other color looked :-) Each image is a 240 second integration of 8 exposures @ 30 seconds each . Each have had a dark subtraction and have been flat fielded and color balanced using the "curve " feature in Gimp. Seeing measured between 1.9 & 3.2 using FWHM . Six images were taken on the night of 08\27\00 and the other three on 08\29\00 at f3.75 . The ST5C while being a powerful camera has a very small chip therefore making mosaics a necessity for larger subjects !
