M17 the "Omega"nebula

M17 is located in the constellation of Sagittarius ! It looks loke a big checkmark in the sky thru the scope visually ! An easy target for small scopes that have a good southerly view in summer ! This image is a single ten minute exposure taken with an MX7c ccd camera and 11" scope. AstroArt 2.0 was used for guiding and synthesizing the image into an LRGB . Guiding was accurate to .7 pixels using the Star 2000 interface from Starlight Xpress an excellent piece of equipment that allows accurate guiding on any star located in the main field of view at the expense of one half sensitivity of the ccd chip ! Not a problem when one can self guide for an indefinite period of time! The Star 2000 interface was created for use with the MX series of cameras made by Starlight Xpress !
