
The planet Saturn is one of the most awe inspiring sites in a telescope . It has a definite 3D look to it when viewing first hand especially now that the rings are opening once again {they were tilted edge on to our line of sight for a while and they appeared to disappear}. This picture was taken with the 11" scope at f65 using eyepiece projection with my 35 mm Fujica camera on Kodak Gold 100 ASA for 4 seconds using the "hat-trick" in perfectly calm air! This type of astrophotography is extremely sensitive to any motion whatsoever and requires "steady "air! Exposure time is also critical as can be seen in the photo below.

This picture of Saturn was taken the same night as the one above but note the difference between exposures of 4 seconds for the photo above to 2-1/2 seconds for the lower one! I must say that I was pleased to capture "Cassini`s Division" on the right side of the image,it is a little more apparent in the lower photo, faint but there!
