A Combination of Structure and Spontaneity . . . The image / shapes are sketched in pencil and the paint applied with controlled accidents, feeding and bleeding the paint on dry paper or into small puddles of water, persuading not commanding the pigment as it is blended, dripped, thickly applied, blotted with paper towels or speckled with sprinkled salt. Jazz music could be an accurate analogy to describe painting process of these works spontaneity within a structure. Why Narrow Paintngs? . . . Narrow artwork give a sense of movement to the piece. It creates a scroll-like appearence. The piece is viewed back and forth. Static is avoided. |
