We Honor our Veterans
In today's lesson, Jesus
is talking about the end of life as they (or we) knew (know)
it... All of this talk about the end of times can be
scary. And yet He suggests that this stuff is nothing
more than the birth pangs of a new age filled with hope and
peace. How do we live through times of great tumult
and upheaval? Do we look back and yearn for the
simpler and perhaps fuller times of the past..."The Good Old
Days?" Or do we look ahead with the eyes of faith ,
trusting God is the keeper of our destiny? And as we
live through the times of uncertainty , how shall we honor
those who make their home in the heart of the tumult and
treachery, the ambiguity and paradox...like people in our
military? These are the things we will consider
today...the twenty-fourth Sunday after Pentecost.
