Brief History of Trinity United Methodist
Church
Trinity had
its humble beginnings in 1875 when 13 men and women gathered
in an old frame church then known as the Congregational
Church on the south side of Bowling Green. Four years later
the now current site of Trinity United Methodist Church was
purchased and the first brick was laid in 1880.
By 1912, the building was inadequate because of rising
attendance and a new building began construction. In later
years, Trinity underwent many renovations and improvements
to accommodate its members.
In 1985 the church sanctuary underwent major remodeling and
Trinity UMC once again had a new appearance. Additions of
classrooms, choir areas, and stained-glass windows gave
Trinity the flexibility to better accommodate its still
growing membership.
From the beginning Trinity has served families and the
community with a vital ministry. Countless hours of time and
many gifts, large and small, have kept our church in
service. It has pleased us greatly to emphasize our ministry
among the youth of the church which produced "call to the
ministry." We feel the pulse of God's Holy Spirit moving to
change lives through prayer and personal knowledge of Jesus
Christ. Our prayer is that Trinity Church will continue to
serve our Lord with a caring, spiritual ministry.
