LOAVES & FISHESserving individuals and families in the Mercer Area School District through an all-volunteer work force. Everyone is welcome to join our dedicated group of volunteers who choose to serve others with love, respect, and compassion.

Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry is a public charity and is a 501(c)(3) organization (Employer ID 22-3883336) that participates in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program for Seniors, directed by the Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County, which means that seniors aged 60 and older must meet income guidelines set by Pennsylvania and federal governments.


PURPOSE: The purpose of the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry is to feed the hungry, to reach out in love to those in need, and to show that “Someone cares.”


DIRECTIONS: Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry is located two miles north on Mercer on route 58 at West Cornell Road. Turn right onto West Cornell Road; the pantry is the third building on the left.

HOURS: The pantry is open from 1-3 p.m. every Wednesday of the month, except it is closed if there is a fifth Wednesday of the month.





  • Clients must reside in the Mercer Area School District or reside where Loaves & Fishes is the closest food pantry.
  • Clients must show their Pennsylvania driver’s license or photo ID.
  • Clients must provide proof of income for everyone residing in the household.
  • Clients must provide a current utility bill.
  • Clients must meet income guidelines set by Pennsylvania and federal governments.
  • Clients may visit the Loves & Fishes Food Pantry only one Wednesday per month.


DISTRIBUTION: Grocery bags (one bag for 1-3 persons, two bags for 4-6 persons, and three  bags for 7 or more persons) will contain the following: DRIED GOODS—cereal, crackers, instant potatoes, macaroni and cheese, Jell-O or pudding, canned tuna, canned vegetables, canned fruit, chicken soup, mushroom soup, tomato soup, pasta, spaghetti sauce, and peanut butter or jelly. FREEZER AND REFRIGERATOR ITEMS—one pound of hamburger, one pound of hot dogs, one pound of oleomargarine, one dozen eggs, and frozen or canned juice. DONATED ITEMS: bread, baked goods, fresh produce, and extra freezer or refrigerator items.

Clients may also choose three additional items from the shelves.


Originally called the Mercer Community Christian Center (MCCC), the food pantry was founded March 12, 1982 by the Mercer Ministerium and continues to be supported by Mercer area churches. The pantry is operated by a board of elected offices and dedicated volunteers. Sandra Probst is the Director.


Each year more than 200 households and 500 persons are served (monthly average of approximately 120 households/250 persons). The lead agency is the Mercer County Community Food Warehouse in Sharon.
