What is the Journal of Trionic Physics?
The J. Trionic Phys. is a website dedicated
to the music of Jefferson Airplane, their historical permutations,
their musical descendants, and all their friends, collaborators,
and fellow travelers.
Most of the material at this site was previously published in a couple of amateur publications. The Journal of Trionic Physics was a fanzine (usually about 10 pages) that ran for six issues, from January 1996 to December 1997. Mind Full of Bread was a newsletter I sent out from October 1998 through February 2000. Future issues may or may not follow...

What's special about the Journal of Trionic Physics?
Everything at this website is original material,
produced by fans of Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship, and Hot Tuna.
None of this material can be found elsewhere on the 'Net!
Why Bother?
I started the paper version of the J. Trionic Phys.
because of a
desire to connect with other JA fans. I'm generally
dissatisfied with the general level of Internet discourse.
Part of this is strictly egomaniacal;
it bothered me that any contribution I might make in a typical Internet
forum would be buried in an avalanche of flames, fluff, spam
and the usual chest-pounding alpha male posturing.
This dissatisfaction is tied up with 2400Fulton, the most popular Internet JA discussion forum. I was thrilled to discover this forum back in 1994, not long after it had started up. I mean, I had never even met another Jefferson Airplane fan before. I no longer read 2400Fulton, because the volume of posts is very high, and the signal to noise ratio is very close to zero.
What's the name mean?
On the recruitment poster printed on the back page of the booklet
included in Blows against the Empire,
a call was made for specialists in "Trionic Physics." The name is a
play on this, and stands in part as
an acknowledgment to one of my Gurus, Paul Kantner.
Taking the name of a pseudo-scientific journal also reflected my
desire to create a space for thoughtful commentary, as opposed to
casually tossed-off fanboy boosterism.
It's also a somewhat of a personal joke, and like much of the intended
humor in my writing, probably nobody else gets it.
