- As
a troop sponsored by St. Michael Catholic Church, we take seriously our
commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church (for those of us who
are Catholic) and to Jesus Christ (for all who are Christian). We respect
and honor the other religions (such as Judaism and Islam) that worship
God.
- Boys,
not adults, will take the leadership role in running the troop and patrol
meetings and, as much as possible, in planning the activities. The adult
leaders' responsibility is to advise and support the Boy Scout leaders.
Boy Scouts will take most of the responsibility for choosing their Boy
Scout leaders. Scouts will serve terms of six months for each position;
they can be re-elected.
- Since
Troop 5 is generously sponsored by St. Michael Church, we want to serve
the needs of St. Michael as much as possible. This means organizing
service projects to help the church and its mission; organizing our
activities so that Scouts can attend Sunday Mass; and going on one or two
trips a year that encourage Scouts to learn more about the Catholic
Church.
- Whenever
possible, we will give visible rewards to the Scouts of Troop 5 for their
achievements. We will hold Courts of Honor at least every three months.
- We
never want to forget that Scouting should be fun. Therefore we will make
it a priority to have a game as part of every troop meeting.
