The
Monadnock Troop
.
Troop 33's canoe program teaches
how to rescue
yourselves if you flip over. One way to empty out a swamped canoe is to
pass it over the gunwales of another canoe. Then you and your buddy
climb
back in. Or else you could bring your swamped canoe back to shore and
empty
it out on the beach. The guy on the left is trying a stunt called
gunwale
jumping, where he makes the canoe go forward by pushing up and down on
the back of the canoe while standing on the gunwales. Only an
experienced
paddler should try this one.
