Serving Others

Welcome to the serving others web page. This page is designed to get people of all ages involved in there community and charitable organizations. There are so many things you can do to help out your community and charitable organizations. You may not think that any of this is important, but it is a lot more important than you think. Trust me I was in your shoes at one time thinking that who cares why do they need me. I'm only one person. I realized though that one person can make a difference. Whether it's helping a young child find themselves and who they are through the big brother big sister program or going to the food bank and sorting cans. When you help out I promise you that you have impacted someone's lives. I know your not getting money for your services, but at the end of the day you should feel good about yourself. I strongly encourage you to get out there and get involved.

As you scroll down through this website and see all the different organizations please take into consideration to get involved with them. Don't be afraid to call them up and ask for information. Show the world that you can make a difference.

- BIG BROTHER BIG SISTER Big brother big sister is a pretty popular charity that most people know about, but don't get involved with. Big brother big sister is an organization for less privileged kids to have a companion that they can confide in and learn from. When you first get started at big brother big sister you have choices to make. What kind of Big brother or Big sister do you want to be? You can choose from Sports buddies, a school-based mentoring, or a community-based mentoring. Sports buddies is where you take your little sister or brother for about an hour and play sports at a sports complex. School-based community is where you go to you little brothers or sisters school and spend about an hour working with them on different school projects or just talking about things going on in there lives. Last, but not least there is community-based program. Community-based program is where you meet your little brother or sister somewhere is your community and have fun with them. All three of these programs are a way to get involved. It is only one hour a week and and you can make a difference.

Let me share a little of my personal experience with you. A few months ago I got the chance to go into the big brother big sisters organizations office and talk with one of there representatives She was telling me all about the program. Did you know that there is a waiting list of almost 50 kids in just the Lebanon county area. So imagine how many there are all over the world. Some of those kids never get the chance to have a big brother or big sister they may have really needed. All they wanted was one hour a week with someone and we couldn't give them that. So now when you are sitting there for an hour watching TV think to yourself how you could be helping a kid instead of doing nothing. One hour of your time is not a lot. I also learned that kids who are in the big brother big sister program that actually get big brothers and big sister are more likely to stay out of trouble. You could be the reason a kid stays in school. Imagine the possibilities if just one hour a week helps a child in some way.
