This years camp was a great success with nearly 50 children enjoying numerous fun and rewarding activities. We are planning and looking forward to next year. Dates and a theme will be announced as soon as we have decided. We have left this years information up to show some of the wonderful activities children enjoyed. If you would like to be sent information for Creative Capers in 2010 please contact the office.

 art and science summer camp

For entering 1st through 7th graders

Scholarships are available through the Charleston Gazette's "Send a Child to Camp" Fund

Creative Capers Summer Arts Camp,  was started by  Helen Basham and Averill Howard, in 1998; as a response to a reduction in art activities at Schools. The camp is open to all. It  has become a Kanawha Valley Institution with returning children every year. We have wonderful returning and new instructors this year. More details of the camps activities will be posted soon.

 

 

This Year's Theme: 'Going Green'

 

Tuition ($225) includes

  • Classes in the arts and sciences

  • daily lunch

  • morning and afternoon snack

  • Friday's pre-performance dinner

  • Camp T-shirt

 First Graders: 1/2 Day Tuition is $150

Early arrival (7:45) and / or late pickup (by 5:30),
$20 each per week.

Daily Schedule

  • 9:00 am Morning Gathering

  • 9:15-11:25 Morning Blocks: Science, Art, Music, Art History, Games

  • 11:30 to 12:20 Lunch/Recreation

  • 12:20: Afternoon Gathering

  • 12:30-4:00 pm Afternoon electives

  • 4:00 pm Dismissal

Friday Evening:

4:00 rehearsal,
4:30 dinner for campers and preparation for Showcase
 5:30 Showcase of projects for family and friends

Scholarships: Creative Capers is committed to providing a high quality camp for everyone.  Thanks to the Charleston Gazette's Send-s child-to Camp Fund, we are able to award need-based scholarships to qualifying campers.  If otherwise unable to attend, please check the box on the registration form requesting a scholarship.
