DEACONS
UPDATE
Our
church family has suffered many losses this past year, all of us have felt these losses in many different ways. All Saints Sunday is a time to remember and honor those we have lost, it will be on November 1st–
this is the time to submit the names of loved ones who have passed away this year. The
church bell will be rung for each name mentioned. Also on November 8th
we will have a Remembrance Service – during this service we will remember and honor anyone who has passed away. A candle will be lit for each loved one and the service will be followed by fellowship
and a light snack.
We
are preparing for a meaningful and special Advent Season, the season of our Savior’s birth. One special thing that our church does is to have families, individuals or groups take turns lighting the
Advent candle each week. There are five candles and we need five sets of persons
to light the candles each week. If you are interested in participating by lighting
a candle and reciting a short verse, please contact Pastor Carol or Jennifer at the church office or contact anyone of the
Deacons.
If
you would like to hear any special songs, you can contact the Deacons or Gloria Parkinson and we will be glad to try to accommodate
you. The Deacons help and support Pastor Carol in most aspects of the worship
service and we are a good avenue for you to give us feedback. Please feel free
to contact any of us with your worship input.
God Bless each and every
one of you, we are certainly one big family!

WHEAT Community Café: Join the Provisions’ Pool!
Monthly $5 Share
As our church family continues our monthly commitment to serve a hot meal on the 3rd
Monday of each month at the Community Café, your Stewardship
and Mission team has come up with a way of streamlining the provisions aspect of the meal. Rather than individuals donating
provisions as we now do, which leads to too much of one ingredient and not enough of another, we invite you to join a provisions’
pool and commit to a monthly $5 share of the shopping list. This way one person only shops each month, paying for the ingredients
out of the provisions’ pool.
Sign up for your monthly $5 shopping list share! Ron Oja, our “head cook and bottle washer”
is the man to see! This MO will also mean we can shop cheaper by making one monthly
run to places such as BJs.
As far as the organization of cooking and serving the meal goes, we’ll stay with each month
a church committee being responsible for organizing the logistics of the meal, meaning each month a different committee will
be in charge of recruiting volunteers to cook and serve the meal. So please, with aprons and spud peelers at the ready, step
forward for this wonderful spirit-filled mission project that
truly makes a difference in the lives of our Clinton friends and neighbors.
Peace and blessings,
Gloria ( Parkinson )
