Yesterday... and TODAY!

Yesterday...

I walked with my children to vote in the local primary election.
I hope I showed them the power of one person, one vote.

I answered their questions, showed them the kinds of positions we had to vote for, and explained how their dad and I decided who would get our vote.
I pray that they will understand the need to prayerfully, carefully exercise their voting rights when they are old enough.

And, like many other parents yesterday, I made meals, cleaned, did the laundry, helped with homework, played a game, read a book, and tucked my kids in bed with a big hug and kiss.
And I hope and pray that they will see that God is present in the little things, the insignificant, the important and the impossible.

TODAY!

I sent my kids to school with a special prayer for their protection, not just physical, but emotional protection as well.
Like mothers in every part of the world, I seek to shield my children from undue exposure to violence and prejudice.

I spent time in prayer and remembrance, and in worship.
I hope I can show them that though evil may roam our world, it does not own it.

I celebrate the liberty and freedom we have in the United States, and thank God for it.
I pray that my children will connect their right to vote in a free and democratic society, with the right to worship God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
