Victor Penner Natural Horsemanship Clinics

Cowboy Trail Clinics are all about advancing your foundation skills and then putting them in action, both on the ground and in the saddle.  On Saturday we usually start at 8:00am with visiting, coffee and some of Joy's homemade goodies.  Around 9:00 to the arena on the ground, to warm up and introduce our new skills.  Then we add in obstacles and finish up with a rousing game of "HORSE" to challenge your newfound skills.   Time for lunch, watch the pictures and videos that Joy took and discuss what we learned today.
On Sunday again at 8:00 for coffee, goodies and visiting about the days plans.  9:00 in the arena for warm up then in the saddle to play with yesterdays skills in the saddle.  Out to the obstacles and then some strategies for getting and keeping your horses attention.  We finish up our day with a group trail ride in the surrounding desert.  Back for lunch, pictures and video, and discussion of what we learned today.

Cow clinics These clinics will run basically the same schedule as the cowboy trail clinics but with less ground time and more saddle time.  In April we will start by using your horse's natural curiosity to build his/her confidence in cows.  May through July we will introduce the games played in Ranch Horse Versitility.

Cost for the weekend clinics is $150.00 for Cowboy Trail clinics , $250.00 for the Cow clinics.  Auditing is $20.00.

Come spend a week immersing your self in horsemanship. Spend five days riding with me.  Eating, sleeping, drinking and living Horsemanship.  Then on the weekend participate in a Natural Horsemanship Clinic.  Cost $500.00 per person limited to three riders(groups by prior arrangement).  See the calender for availble dates.

Mounted Shooting Workshops and Clinics are a great way to help your horse be less reactive to loud sudden noises.  This is particularly benificial for Cowboy Mounted Shooting, Television/Film Industry, Law Enforcement, Parades... any horse can benefit by becoming calmer, smarter and braver out on the trail, at Fourth of July or New Years

New Rider Workshop.  These class's last about two hours, and is scheduled in conjunction a California Desperado Practice.  Topics include Gun Safety and desensitizing horses to gun fire.  Cost is $50.00 per rider (maximum fifteen).

Mounted Shooting Clinic is designed for the horse and rider who still wants/needs more sensory training after the new rider workshop.  This would be great for law enforcement horses, television/film, or some one who wants to compete in cowboy mounted shooting.  With at least four sensory sessions over two days and course work in between the horses are ready to shoot courses of fire by the end of day two.  Cost is $300.00 per rider (maximum ten).

Intermidiate Mounted Shooting Clinic.  This is for the horse and rider who have accepted gun fire and are ready to improve their competition skills(barrel turns, gates, marksmanship, course strategy).  Cost $300.00 per rider (maximum five).

Training and Lessons

Training costs $800.00 per month.  This includes $200.00 board and sessions five days a week.  I find training to be much more beneficial if the owner is involved(if you can come every day that would be fantastic).  You are also invited to participate in my monthly Natural Horsemanship Clinics at no additional charge as long as your horse is here in training.

Young horse education.  I don't generally start horses under three, but there is no reason that they can't learn their ground games, go out for trail walks, be ponied, carry a light saddle, in hand trail obstacles... the more they are used to playing with and accepting direction from their human, the smoother the transition to saddle work is.

Colt Starting usually takes about three months(can be shorter with young horse education).  The first month is spent on ground games and helping the horse to accept the human as their leader and on their back.  The second month the horses owner get much more involved in the ground games, while I do more in the saddle and by the third month the owner should be doing the majority of the riding with me as a coach.  Of course this schedule varies horse to horse and owner to owner.

Other training topics can be discussed on an individual basis.

Lessons are $75.00 and are scheduled for a few hours that way we're not trying to cram everything into one hour.  If you purchase a package of ten lessons($750.00)you will recieve two additional lessons free.
