Learning from Psychic Experiencesby Vincent Paradis
Anyone who has had, or knows someone who has had, a psychic experience knows that our sensing capabilities are not limited to just what our body's physical senses can sense, that our mind is capable of sensing info that is beyond our body's physical sensing capabilities.
The word psychic relates to what we call our psyche or mind.
To be psychic refers to our ability, our mind's ability, to sense and perceive info that has not and could not have been sensed through the body's physical senses of seeing, hearing, touching, etc. Our body's physical senses can sense info that exist in the present time and in our immediate environment. Our mind's psychic sense can sense info about things that is exist in time (present, past, future) and space (not in our immediate environ) and from other people's mind.
I will refer to such info that can be or is sensed by our mind as psi info.
Our mind is capable of sensing info about what someone else is thinking or has thought, their emotions, and their physical state. Our mind can sense info about events that are occurring or have occurred, and even about events that will occur in the future.
Our mind's sensing capabilities seem to be not hindered by distance or time. It should be noted that no matter how any info is sensed, whether info has been physically sensed by our body or psychically sensed by our mind, it is with our mind that we get to perceive and know the info by becoming conscious and aware of it.
A lot about our mind's psychic ability and how it functions can be learned from analyzing psychic experiences. For instance, from a personal experience .......
The Used Car
Sometime in the summer of 1978, I mentioned to my brother that I was shopping for a new car, a used car. One day that week, I ventured into a car lot with my wife and started looking around. We saw a dark red Malibu that was in good condition. We asked the salesman about it and was told it was already taken. Someone has put a deposit on it. Then he showed us a gold mustard colored1969 Lincoln Continental that was in fine condition. The price was right, so we purchased it. No one else at the time knew we have bought a car that day except the car salesman.
The next day my brother calls me to tell me about a dream he had.
This was not unusual since he periodically calls to tell me about a dream he has had. He likes to get my opinion and I find dreams most interesting.
He had a dream that we were living in our childhood neighborhood in New York except that we were our present age, grownups. I came up to the apartment to tell him I have bought a new car and to come see it. He came down the stairs, open the door, and there parked in the street, was a dark red Lincoln Continental . The street we lived on when we were kids was 69th street off Amsterdam Avenue.
Comments and Analyses
After he finished telling me about his dream, I told my brother that we have purchased a car the previous day. That it was a 1969 Lincoln Continental. And that the first car we liked was dark red. He was thrilled.
By the way, this was not his first psychic experience.
Since we were kids he has had dreams that contained info he did not, and I knew he had not, actually physically, in person, experienced.
A lot of psychic experiences - the manifestation of psychically sensed info into consciousness - occur in dreams.
The likely explanation why this is so, I would venture to guess, is because most people during their waking hours have their mind fully occupied.
And since we can only pay attention to one thing at any one time, if our mind is occupied, psi info can not manifest, come to mind.
My brother dreamt that we have purchased a car, that was a direct hit.
Why would my brother dream about a car I purchased?
Well, I did mention to him I was shopping for a new car.
His mind has then become sensitized, alerted to sensing info about that subject if and when it occurs.
His dream did not contain anything about the car lot, the salesman, or the shopping experience.
Why did he sense the wrong color of the car?
Likely because the dark red color of the Malibu, the first car we liked, made a greater impression on us than the gold mustard color which we did not like that much.
Psi info with stronger emotions attached to them are more likely to be sensed than those with low emotional content.
The type of car, Lincoln Continental, was literally sensed, that was a direct hit.
The way the model year of the car,1969, manifested was most interesting.
The year of car must have initiated associative thoughts from my brother's past experience and childhood memories of when we lived on 69 street.
The mind took the related memory, 69, and wove it into a dream story that, in a round about way, incorporated the psi info sensed, the model year of the car, 1969.
