SIXTY ONE AND COUNTING
I was just sort of talking off the top of my head when I told Mary I wanted to live at least
till I was eighty. A few months later, Mary told me that she prayed everyday that the Lord would grant me my wish.
Well, during last year's celebration at Robin's in Cambria, my oldest sister began talking about how many years left we each
had. When I realized I was down to twenty (if I make it to eighty!), I began to rethink especially since I had Mary
interceding for me. Mary is one of those people who I think is very effective in her prayers, and I began seeing
myself fall over dead the day after my eightieth birthday or perhaps the day before my eighty first!! So the next time
I talked to Mary, I told her I had revised my WISH. "I'm heading for one hundred, Mary. That will give me another
forty years (now thirty nine) to pull it all together!"
I was thinking this morning, what are all the things one would want to say, "I did it sixty
one times"? Certainly not marriage and or divorce! And I suppose there might be a woman or two out there that
would disagree, but probably not childbirth either! BUT IT IS GOOD to celebrate my birthday sixty one times, and I'm
looking forward to sixty two. Amidst all the turmoil in our world, IT'S GREAT TO BE ALIVE AND TO LIVE. I'm thinking
about another birthday celebration that I read about and referred to here several weeks ago. I'll post the link
here again today. Happy Birthday, also to Glenn, Melody, Ken, and Chuck. Thanks to everyone, including
Ian, who has made my life so worth living. Ian gave me a Birthday card at some very early hour of the morning.
You gotta know there's something special about the first card of the day!
