YOU'RE COVERED
I am a worrier.  I worry about everything, but especially things like having enough money, enough time, sometimes even getting enough to eat, and sometimes even getting enough love from the special people in my life.  So when a very close friend said this morning that he too is a worrier, I perked up and listened well.  He said to keep from being overwhelmed by his worries, he keeps reminding himself of this simple fact, "I AM HERE FOR A PURPOSE AND I'M COVERED."
As I took in his words, I felt this weight just drift away out the windows of his office and into the sunlight that was streaming through, reminding us that winter is probably really over and spring has sprung and summer is on the way.
For those of you who worry like Bruce and I, just remember, YOU'RE HERE FOR A PURPOSE AND YOU'RE COVERED.  Some one else has already purchased your ticket, you have a reserved seat, it's all taken care of, and you'll always have enough of whatever it is that you need.
Is that true or just new age rubbish?  I DON'T KNOW!  What I do know is the experience this morning of sitting with my good friend Bruce is true.  Feeling the weight lift off my body and my heart and then watch it float out the window, that is  true.  Getting reconnected this morning to the earth and to the people I love and to God, despite all the worrisome things in my life, that is true.
Now as you pass on this wonderful statement, I'M HERE FOR A PURPOSE AND I'M COVERED, you must give credit to the muses in Bruce Fountain's soul.  He is a therapist like myself and has a practice in Redlands and writes a wonderful column for the Redlands Facts.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TERI
Rumor or myth has it that today is Shakespeare's birthday.  I was surprised to find out that it is only rumor or myth.  I thought for many years it was a sure fact.
But it is no myth that today is Teri's birthday.  She is my sister, five years younger than me.  She is fifty seven today.
What I remember most about Teri is she stole rosary beads from a religious goods store when she was five.  She made me promise not to tell, but of course, I told.  To get even with me about forty years later, she shouted my name as I was about to cross the finish line ahead of her in a 10K race.  Since I was already finishing about 267th, I paused for a moment and turned around.  Of course, I recognized her voice and wanted to see if she was in some kind of distress.  Well, she was.  She was practically having a heart attack trying to beat me!  As I had stopped in the running lane, a race official pushed me into a different shoot, allowing my sister to finish ahead of me!
For my sixtieth birthday, she gave me a gift card to Docta K's website and signed the card, pleasant dreams!
For her birthday today, I gave her a gift card to spend a week in Hawaii.  Now that's real brotherly love.  Of course, she has to get there, and in the brochure for this bed and breakfast place, they said to bring your own cockroach spray!
It's great having four sisters and I enjoy telling stories about them especially on their birthdays.
Now the part about her gift card for my sixtieth--that's a lie, and my gift card for a week in Hawaii, that's a lie.  BUT HER STEALING THE ROSARY BEADS AND GETTING ME PUSHED OUT OF THE WAY SO SHE COULD FINISH AHEAD OF ME.  THAT'S ALL TRUE.  NO MYTH, NO RUMOR.  TRUE!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TERI!!
