Happy Monday!
I was trying to figure out if this was the half way mark. I had to count on my fingers
to be sure!! Nothing like OLD math to help you out in a pinch. As I figure it, June 30 and July 1 will mark the
half way point--or mark--or dot--or half way day--or half way day and night!
Last week, the judges selected the ten semifinalists for the public radio audition. I
was NOT selected. SO, it is time to congratulate the ten who were and continue to support them in their quest.
The Public Radio Talent Quest website is an interesting and fun website, and I would recommend it highly. I have enjoyed
immensely being a part of the quest and now to continue being a part. Obviously, I am no longer a contestant, but
I continue to read the blogs of the seminfinalists and support them with comments and feedback. For me, it is on for
another audition.
My first audition is this morning. Getting up and ready to meet my very challenging day,
and to do it all in a spirit of excellence.
As I look at my list of "stuff" to accomplish today, it is clear that there will be more than
one audition, unless you want to consider the day one BIG audition. But as the old saying goes, the way to eat an elephant
is one bite at a time. Is that how it goes? Who eats elephants? Jack In the Box hasn't tried that yet, have
they? M-m-m. When I hear back from Jack today, I'll know that my website is being viewed by a lot more people
than I ever imagined! By the way, I like Jack and his box. I love the sourdough burger, and I love the fact that
most Jack in the Boxes serve breakfast all day!
I worked in the yard Saturday. I get a wonderful feeling in my gut when I drive into the
driveway and notice the manicuring that I accomplished on Saturday. I was also the grim reaper for any number of weeds,
some of which I exterminated with chemicals which are supposed to prevent weeds from growing for some time to come.
The weed killer is supposed to be environmentally friendly, but perhaps that is an oximoron. I am not a botanist, but
it seems to me that some of the weeds that have taken up residence in our yard have actually mutated or pehaps crossed fertilized
or whatever it is weeds might do. The most pesky weed, which tends to take over like a ground cover, still looks basically
the same, but I notice changes in the leaf structure, so it looks more and more like it should stay and not be pulled!!
Weeds have intelligence, I can feel it.
Back to auditioning. I have also made a committment to myself to inquire at
other radio venues to find a place for myself on the airwaves. You can ask me about my committment from time to time
and hold my feet to the fire!
So as I go through my week, weeding out the most important from that which can wait, I have
to resist the temptation to throw everything into the "it can wait," category, and just enjoy being here, being alive.
I love to put it all on hold and retreat to the keys of my laptop and continue molding and sculpting--ah ah, STIRRING, what's
on the burner.
Thanks for reading. SHOW UP for all your auditions in bells and whistles. As Marilyn Thompson used to say,
BE FINE FOR DAYS!
