NEW YORK
wOW! It's been a couple of weeks. Well, I have been to New York and back.
I thoroughly enjoyed New York, at least where we were. We hung out in Times Square, the Rockerfeller Center,
Central Park, China Town, Little Italy, the financial center, same as ground zero, The Empire State Building, Lincoln
Center, Ellis Island, Liberty Island, JFK airport, and La Guardia airport.
We WALKED and we WALKED. Took the subway several times to places like the
Empire State Building, China town, and Little Italy, but everywhere else we WALKED and we WALKED. But it was great.
There was an incredible police presence. All very friendly. They even let you take
your picture with them. Everyone we "ran into" and I did a lot of that, were all very polite and friendly people, and
fun people. I enjoyed hearing all the different dialects. Even the actors and actresses in the plays we saw were
all very generous with their time after the show, signing autographs and taking pictures with us.
Ground zero was quite something to see and take in. People tear up when they talk about
their personal experience of that day. And I have found myself since returning, tearing up when people ask if I
visited ground zero.
The statue of Liberty was impressive. Have seen it so many times in so many different
movies and travel movies, etc. Wonderful to see her in person.
We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express on Forty Fifth and Fifth Avenue. A great location
and a great hotel.
I came home with a cold! I wrote some poetry while sitting in Central Park one morning
and maybe I will post some of them here. There may be a connection between my cold and my day in Central Park!
But at any rate, I am recovering sniffle by sniffle!
Thanks for reading you all!
