GENEROUS FOR NO REASON
Monday, Monday. It is December 11 and as each day goes by, the probability increases that
you will spend more and more frantic time OUT THERE amidst ALL of humanity SHOPPING!
The possibility also increases that any number of PEOPLE will approach you. Some
will be scarey looking. Some will ask to wash your car windows. Some will say nothing because they will be sleeping
on the sidewalk, but they are approaching you all the same! Some will have "stories," and probably none of them original.
"I ran out of gas....I'm on my way to Loma Linda for chemotherapy....I just need a few dollars for....I haven't eaten....We
have no home and the kids have no gifts...."
Do you remember the scene in Christmas Vacation when Clark and
Eddie are in the grocery store shopping? We will run into plenty of Eddies in the coming weeks and some may even
be our relatives.
Is there any way, we could keep it all simple for our hearts? So, do not waste the energy
JUDGING if "Eddie" deserves what he is asking for? Simply let yourself make a simple decision from your heart.
Do you want to GIVE something to Eddie or not? And if not, then don't, and don't judge either Eddie or yourself.
And if you do, then give what your heart wants to give and let it go at that. Don't judge yourself a Saint nor Eddie
LUCKY! Just give. Let yourself experience being GENEROUS of heart.
Now we can also be generous of heart in other ways as well. We can give more generously
of our time with our loved ones. We can rub a couple of feet and a back a few more times than we might ordinarily
choose to! We might take a trip or two and miss a football game or two just because. We might spend a few extra
dollars that we were saving for the second round of the Great Depression, again just because.
The mountains are generous with their awesome beauty this morning. They are covered with
snow which makes them look like the Alps. There is no ticket to buy. I just have to take a few moments to
gaze and take them in. It's amazing how enormous they are, yet my small eyeballs capture it all. Kind of like
our hearts. They are relatively small, but capable of taking in so much and giving so much. Have a generous week!

This is one of my favorite piano pieces from the many concerts I attended as a little
kid right there in my own living room--listening to Mom play.
See blog for March 10.

Ian on his favorite morning--CHRISTMAS--with his favorite animal--ANGEL! See Blog for August 23.

My Birthday buddy, Glenn, getting into WILDFIRE!

Maynard on his 92nd birthday, contemplating kicking my butt in cribbage!
