HAPPY FIRST MONDAY
HEY!
It IS Monday, January 7, 2008. The FIRST Monday of the New Year.
It seems that I’ve been living in the Twilight Zone since December 21! I closed down the Office
for the Eve of Christmas and New Years and the Day after each of those Holidays as well which made a very nice FIVE DAY vacation.
However, in the process, I’ve lost track of what each day FEELS like! Isn’t that amazing? My body actually knows what Monday
feels like and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday feels like. And it definitely knows what Saturday and Sunday feels
like! So it will be interesting to see, if before the day is over, my body will once again know that this is MONDAY!
But I have to admit, it’s been great living in the NOW for the past two weeks–not really knowing
what day it is, but just knowing that I am alive in the here and now.
That is one of my continuing resolutions, to live in the here and now. Those of you who know my
worry-wart side, are probably laughing up a storm. I know you can’t believe that I ever live in the worry-free hear and now!
I’m also looking at keeping current with my "book" work each day. I started a few weeks into December
and have been successful at being current with invoices and payments. Now, the next step is to add deposits and checks to
the process and I can enjoy being "up-to-date" with my paperwork. That is a new experience for my body!
I’m aware that watching football during this time of year is something of my past. Sometimes,
I long to sit down with a hot bowl of soup and watch whatever the exciting match up is for the day. But as much as I long
for that experience, I don’t really miss it much. And sometimes when I catch a glimpse of a game, I’m sort of intrigued by
the violence of it all which is surprising to me because football is a game I have loved to watch and play and not something
I categorized as violent Although I have to admit, when I was young and actually playing the game, it was a goal to take out
another player with as much physical prowess as I could muster up. And after tackling a player and then watching him limp
on the field, I thought of myself as the most powerful player on earth! And I always knew that I was a potential target myself
for someone else’s "glory." In fact, I lost a very expensive tooth playing football!
So we all have a violent and a competitive streak inside somewhere! That’s not new information
is it? So weave it in. Make it a part of yourself. It might come in handy at the right place and the right time.
So with those inspiring thoughts, enjoy the first week of the New Year.
