SLEEPLESS IN SEATTLE
Yes, I am here, sleepless in Seattle.  Dianna missed the 9:30 Ferry, and so I am waiting up for her.  She caught, I hope, the last Ferry of the night, the 11:30.  Or maybe they run all night long.

So here we are.  Tomorrow, Saturday, we set sail for Alaska.  We rented the cutest little boat you have ever seen.  They said we will get very sore rowing, but I have faith in us.  They also told us to watch out for the icebergs, so we are bringing a portable CD player, so we can play that song from Titanic while we row!

I'm not sure what it is I am doing here in Seattle, but it is definitely part and parcel of my learning to let go.  Late last night, when I tried to start the car in front of my office back in Yucaipa, it became quickly apparent that the starter motor had died.  It was the beginning of 24 hours of letting go, preceded by a week of desperately trying to hold on and make things happen, particularly to make things happen financially.  THANKS TO ALL OF YOU who threw me money while I stood there shamelessly on the Yucaipa Boulevard offramp.

No, I didn't really do that, but I DID do a little begging and to those I begged, I AM MOST APPRECIATIVE.  However, when my sister, Marianne, heard I was begging, she jumped on a plane and flew to Plano Texas.  Pretty drastic measure to avoid your brother's begging!!  But she ain't heavy.  She's my sister!

It is good to be here.  Dianna came up ahead of me and spent the day visiting some of her relatives at Port Angelus.

There are four of us all together, going on this cruise.  I am the only guy in the group, so I keep duplicating my growing up with sisters and no brothers.  Now how in the heck did that happen one more time.  I have got to be more aware of these "things."  The three gals are part of "Treble Cleffs" which is a singing group in the Yucaipa area and Dianna is their accompanist and sometimes Director.  Chris and I flew up today, and I appreciate Chris reminding me to pick up my computer after I set it down to check our luggage in at curbside!  And in addition, she picked up the tab for most of today's ventures and bites to eat.  So she will be standing at a Seattle offramp tomorrow!

Speaking of men and guys, I met the neatest guy on the airplane today.  His name is Michael and he has a specialized high end furniture business.  He makes very unique high end furniture for cats.  Michael is on his way and we will all know him some day.  His company is Five Pet Place.  Michael is a man after my own heart.  He has a vision for himself and is pursuing it.  He is currently looking for a manufacturer, so if you fit the bill, contact him at michael@fivepetplace.com

Well, I will keep you all blogged this week, as we embark to Alaska.

Good to write to you all again.  I let it slip this past month.

APOLOGIES TO DARRELL
Happy Birthday, Darrell

I try to remember in MY old age to give a tribute here on the website for birthday folks.  A little late with yours.  Darrell was (how old?) on July 17, and it is not too late to send him a birthday present of any kind!  If you wish to send him money, send it to me, and I will be sure to forward it to him.

Darrell, you're really getting old, man.  When I first met you, you were just a kid and Ian was shooting at you from the second story window on Napa Street.  I will always remember you bursting through the front door, shouting, "Ian shot me, Ian shot me!"  I was expecting to see blood gushing all over the place and was relieved to know that it was only a beebee shot to your toosh!

We are very proud of all that you are accomplishing in your life and we are looking forward to you retiring as an executive with Starbucks so that we too can retire and still have coffee in the morning.

We miss you here in California.  I have no recent pictures of you to post.  The pictures I do have, I imagine you would shoot ME if I posted them.  So until I am able to download a picture from your recent New York trip, you will have to remain an anonymous face to our readers!  Click on the link to hear the Beattles sing Happy Birthday to you!  And I found a picture--a few years ago.  You doing your favorite thing.  Walking the streets of New York!

This is one of my favorite piano pieces from the many concerts I attended as a little kid right there in my own living room--listening to Mom play.
