All children will receive Music Education daily with our Certified Music Teacher. Students must be educated in areas of musical knowledge, musical skills and musical attitudes if they are to make wise decisions about music in their life.
Musical skills are important to the total education of each young person. Skills are developed over a period of time so training must begin early. These skills include singing, playing instruments, listening, reading, writing, composing and moving activities.
Music provides a deep look at the aesthetics aspect of humanity. The development of musical taste through exposure to good music leads to a life long appreciation of the arts. To recognize the true, honest, just, pure and lovely is one of the main goals of our program. Growth includes intellectual as well as physical development.
Singing Activities
- help children to experience musical concepts and develop musical skill through the use of their natural instrument, the voice.
Playing Activities
- develop coordination skills and allow children to express musical ideas through many different instrumental media.
Listening Activities
- focused and goal-oriented. They are generally linked with other activities. Students are often asked to move, sing and play in response to listening to music.
Moving Activities
- provide the foundation for musical concept. Combining vocal and physical actions demand a different kind of thought, along with the coordination of the mind, the voice and the body.
They must have a firm foundation of musical knowledge upon which to base these decisions. Knowledge in music is based on the elements of music itself:
melody, harmony, rhythm, form, expressive controls,
and on the relationship of music to other aspects of life.
