CCS - Streets of Willow - Rosamond, CA - 4/11/04

2004 CCS Pacific / Southwest Region Race #2

In a nutshell: continuation.  Its two for two and consistency is the current strong point as this month was very much deja vu of last months event in Phoenix.

Really, it is almost uncanny.  Again the TZ flexed its muscle and thanks to a get together of the top two expert riders, Möbius racing found itself waaaay out front and took the overall win in Lightweight GP.  And this despite some clutch issues!  The start of the race went well.  In fact, it went too good and we chewed up a little too much of the clutch.  By lap two, the clutch was rearing its ugly head with the bike spinning up wildly in 5th and 6th gear.  By that point, however, we were already out front with a good 10 second lead and just rode a conservative race and kept a good cushion on 2nd place to take the checkered flag.  It was almost too easy!

The Unlimited GP race was a little tougher.  After sticking a new clutch in the TZ, we forgot to reset the engagement, so when the green flag dropped, so did the TZ's rpms!  Bogging off the line meant following most of the field through T1.  The TZ, however, really has some strength at Streets because of the technical layout, so we wasted no time in moving up through the field.  With the leader off from the start, we pushed and pushed and pushed until the checkered flag dropped...and when the dust settled we found our way again to the podium with another 2nd place finish.  So far, so good....
