Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How are you able to see patients so quickly?
Dr. Battista is well known by his current patients to treat them as family. He does not like to wait himself, so has devised a system where current patients can have a visit with the doctor the same morning they call! Dr. Battista and his staff value your time and will not keep your waiting when you do show up for your appointment. Surprised? Try us and love the difference.

How do I set up / change / cancel an appointment?

Just call (727) 446-3346 after 9:30AM. Follow the menu prompts. If we are busy with other patients, or not yet open, you can leave a voice message.

How do I get to the office?
Directly south of Gulf-to-Bay Blvd (State Route 60) on South Duncan Avenue; located in Town Centre, a gray colored office complex behind the Shell K Express gas station. Click here => Directions to Office for more details.

Do I have to pay for my visit at the time of my appointment?

Yes, by Cash, Check, MasterCard or Visa.

How much is my co-pay?

Look on your insurance card or call your insurance company.

How do I select Dr. Battista as my provider?
To select Dr. Battista, call your HMO insurance company before your visit, and ask the insurance company representative to change you immediately. Once the change is made, have the representative fax a copy of the change to Dr. Battista (727- 449-1903) and make an appointment with us.

How can I get a prescription refilled?
Dr. Battista always gives you enough medicine to last until you are due for another visit. Don't run out of your blood pressure and other chronic medicines at the last minute. Also if you were given an antibiotic or other short term medicine, and the condition has not cleared, you should discuss this with the doctor as to what to do next. Refills cannot be called in (have the pharmacist fax us).

How can I find out results of my tests including lab tests?

Make an appointment to discuss the tests with Dr. Battista within 1 week after testing is complete. You may have questions, and it is best to discuss these face to face. Do not assume that the "tests are normal" if you don't hear from us!

What do I do in an emergency or need to be seen today ?
For life threatening emergencies, go to the nearest hospital emergency room [ER]. Why wait hours in the ER [emergency room] for less serious problems? Same day visits for acute problems [not days or weeks!] and you won't wait as long.  Surprised?  Our  patients are not. Dr. Battista is on the hospital staffs of: Morton Plant, Mease Dunedin and Countryside Hospitals, and Largo Medical Center.

How does the automated telephone answering system work?
There is a menu easily accessed by your telephone keypad. Please select the appropriate number. The system is in effect 24/7/365. If we're not there, or busy caring for other patients and away from the phone, please leave a brief voice message, and your call will be returned when we are done taking care of patients or when the office re-opens.

Office hours?
Start at 9:30 AM and continue until we are finished. Call the office and follow the message prompts for the latest times. There is no break in the hours for lunch. Dr. Battista can see you the day you call for an urgent condition if you call after 9:30 AM. For busy people, and executives lunch-time appointments are available. We don't take a lunch break so you can see the doctor. Usual Office hours: 9:30 AM to 3 PM - Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri; Thursdays 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM; closed Sat, Sun
