Assigned to HQ USAREUR 7th Army, 26th Support Group from September 1979 to October 1982. I was responsible for the daily operations and supervision of the Graphics and Photography Branch. As NCOIC and Senior Artist Illustrator, I was responsible for the photo and graphics equipment, including testing, training, and purchasing. I supervised a total of 12 personnel, military, DoD civilians, and German nationals.

We supported NATO and other organizations within the USAREUR Theater. I had a great time in Germany and was involved in many non-military art projects to support the Heidelberg community. I received the Commander's award for creating and illustrating a poster of the American Eagle to be used in support of the American Heritage week 82' in Heidelberg.  I was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, and was one of the winners of the All Army Art Contest. After winning the contest, I was interviewed by Armed Forces Network (AFN)

Sometimes just walking on the streets of Heidelberg or just in the community drawing or painting, the German people would stop just to say hello, and congratulate me on my success as an artist. They saw the T.V. show that I was on and just wanted to know more about me, and if I liked being in Germany. I participated in many archery tournaments and had fun traveling throughout Europe. I enjoyed Ski trips to Garmisch, traveled to Spain, Paris, Holland, England, Berlin, and other great places in that part of the world. I come from a small town call Sweet Home, Arkansas, just south of Little Rock, and God has blessed me to be involved in, and to see so much of his world, and to meet many wonderful people in the process.
