.Metro Sting played in
CASA's Indoor League since around 1990 thru 2003. Of course, we never kept track of anything until recently. When we started, we played 6 v 6 at Collegiate and if you committed a serious foul you had to climb over the
plywood into the back hallway to do your time.
The most memorable moment from those days was my brother, Todd, body slamming the goalie as he was picking up the ball and sending him head-first into the plywood. There
was lots of blood, but the goalie didn't seem to be too upset. He had slammed Todd about 30 seconds before that, so I guess he was expecting some payback!
After Collegiate, the league moved to a basketball court at
Robious Sports and Fitness. That wasn't so good - it was hardwood floor and we played on Sunday nights, through the NFL playoffs and superbowl.
The only memory I have from Robious was beating Juventus one season. They
usually killed us, but we caught them short-handed one season - they called over to Angelo's and got some 65 year old dishwasher or cook to come over and play goalie. We barely beat them!
In CASA at the fairgrounds
and we've put together some impressive teams, always playing in Div. 1 and coming in first place a few times.
