Get that old 1960 era Sunfish out of the back yard and get it ready for the 2011 race scheduled for September 24th, 2011! We will race the same course, from Willoughby Boat Ramp to the ODU Sailing Center (approx 10 miles)

Open to all dinghy's or Sunfish Class Boats

It all started recently when 2 friends took their old 1970's era sunfish out to Willoughby for a friendly relaxing sail. They were having a blast and really had no intention to race but you know the rule...When you have at least 2 boats sailing, you have a race!

Well this led to a friendly little discussion about who's boat was faster. This eventually escalated to someone saying "I bet I can kick your butt in my boat"! I'm not sure who may have said that first ...

This has now led to the creation of the Hampton Roads Sunfish Challenge & Dinghy Distance Race!

The course

WHEN: September 22, 2012 - 7:30am - 5:00pm

WHERE: Starting at Willoughby Boat Ramp - Norfolk Va. - Finish at ODU Sailing Center

CLASS: Sunfish (Racing and Recreational), Open class (Portsmouth Rating), A new class will be set up for fleet with 3 or more boats.

COST: $30. Please use the PayPal button below to pay your dues in advance. You can also mail a check to the address below. Registration fee is due prior to race start.
