I'm the little brother!

Baby B, Dominic Edward was born at 6:31pm on September 7, 2004. He weighed 5lb1oz and was 19 inches long. Dominic spent 8 days in the special care nursery, his first 36 hours on oxygen and then as a feeder/grower. When he came home on September 15, he weighed 4lb10oz.

Dominic was named for Mom's great-great-uncle, Dominic Bonner. During World War I in Ireland, Dominic Bonner and his brother John were in a pub with a friend, and heard about a British train coming through carrying Irish conscripts who'd deserted from the British Army and were being imprisoned in Northern Ireland. They decided (after a lot of beer) to go rescue them. So they took their beer and went to the train station, where they stormed the train, yelling and making a racket. The British guards handed over their guns without a fight and let the prisoners go. Everyone went back to the pub. Years later, Dominic got a letter from the British government asking for the guns back. There's a plaque to them in the train station.

Dominic's middle name is after Dad's father, Grandpa Steinke.

Dominic after he got out of the oxy-hood, getting oxygen via nasal canula. Chris was allowed to sleep in his isolette with him, which also helped his breathing. These were taken by one of the NICU nurses at about 3am, and later that morning I got to hold Dom for the first time. He was 3 days old.
