About six years ago I experienced both corporate and family downsizing. I had always wanted to try painting, but my career, children, and sports involvements kept me very busy and did not afford me the time for another hobby. I continue to work on developing my own style, but I am also trying on some different styles. I have been fortunate this past year to be able to exhibit my paintings. It really changes your perspective as an artist from creating a painting that you like to something that hopefully others will enjoy. Whether its my therapy or just a hobby, I am really enjoying it and hope you do too.

I started with the goal of trying to emulate the Impressionist style of my favorite artists, Monet and Van Gogh. But I soon realized that we each have to find our own style of painting. First learning how to mix the desired colors, discovering the right brush strokes, finding the proper spacing of the subjects, then adding the light and shading, all of the elements coming together to achieve a composition. Painting continues to be a learning experience every time I sit in front of a canvas and pick up a brush.

"It's not the brush that makes the mark
Upon the canvas, blank and stark
It's talent that resides within
The artist's hand with grace to win
The heart of some sweet gazer's stare
Beholding art, unique and rare."
