I am continuing to try out new styles and subjects. At the end of last year I started a set of paintings which I crudely call the "drinking series"! These were inspired by a trip late last fall to Barcelona. They are a departure from my landscapes as they present torso shots of a subject engaged in some act of libation. There are studies of a bartender mixing a funky concoction, a lady sipping some wine, a portly man hoisting a brew, and finally a couple toasting the new year!

 

I am also continuing to explore the use of wild color and expression in my impressionistic landscapes, this time the subject is palm trees inspired by a trip this winter to Miami.
