Auburn Ice Canyon, MA A 45 minute drive and 15 minute approach, with over 10 top ropes Grade III and IV-, 30 to 60 feet high. Weather permitting trips run on Saturday and Sunday. Meet at the Rhode Island Rock Gym 10 am, return by 5 pm. Auburn Ice Canyon is the best place for a first-time ice climbing experience. Auburn is also an excellent place to learn and practice advanced ice climbing techniques. -See Our Trips-
Champney Falls Just over a 3 hour drive, then a 2 mile 1 hour approach gradually uphill leads to Top Ropes and Leads up to 50 feet high. Grade III+ to V. Reliable steep ice and some harder mixed lines all easily top roped are what make this area so popular. Located in a remote setting. -See Our Trips-
Newfound Lake Shorter drive, 2.5 hours, 10 minute approach. Two 175 foot long routes grade III and IV. Two thick, reliable routes with great views and exposure over looking Newfound Lake, surprise! At Newfound Lake, there are no crowds. -See Our Trips-
Kingsman's Notch A 3 hour drive to the notch and a parking pull off. Then, a 20 minute steep approach leads to several short easy lines, perfect to practice lead climbing and one thick wide long steep route Grade IV+. Other routes Grade II to IV up to 100 feet. Rumney, New Hampshire This World Class Sport Climbing Area also has some of the most accessible ice around. Steps from the parking lot are routes easily top roped 50-100 feet high from Grade III to V. Perfect for beginners and those who don’t want to hike. Faces south stays sunny and warm relatively speaking. Many more routes in the woods for those explorers. -See Our Trips-
Flume A 20 minute approach, the trail goes through a covered bridge, and follows a stream into the Gorge. Fifty to Eighty foot high rock walls are 20 feet apart separated by a semi frozen stream. Ice covers the right side of the gorge for at least 500 feet. About 30 routes all easily top roped with vertical ice and some thin mixed verglassed climbing. Typically ice climbers don’t fall, here you will, or at least hang on top rope. This is the place to push it and climb really steep ice. We guarantee that you will be pumped at the end of this trip. Not designed for beginners. Grade IV and V ice and hard thin mixed lines. -See Our Trips-
Willey's Slide A 3.5 hour drive leads to the most climbed ice route in New England with 4 pitches of low angled frozen slabs. Long Grade II route with some of the best views anywhere and a long glissade back down. -See Our Trips-
Frankenstein Cliff World famous thick reliable moderate multi-pitch ice routes under a 4 hour drive. A long day trip. Multi-day optional. -See Our Trips-
Mount Lincoln and Mount Lafayette About a 3 hour drive, and approximately an 8 mile hike total. Two summits over 5,000 feet with a mile long above tree line traverse connecting the two. Beautiful views of the Pemi Wilderness, Franconia Notch, Cannon Cliff, and Mt. Washington in the distance. Crampons and/or Snowshoes sometimes necessary, depends on current weather conditions. -See Our Trips-
Mount Washington All participants meet at the Gym at midnight. After a 4.5 hour drive, we start hiking from Pinckham Notch using headlamps up to the base of Tuckermans Ravine. We pause for sunrise then go up Lions Head to the alpine garden that leads to the summit of Mt. Washington at over 6,200 feet. Return by 10 pm. -See Our Trips-
