Keeping Dirt out of Your Fluids.
All My Articles
Besides the myriad of filters on your tractor, there are a few places where dirt and contaminents can enter your tractor fluid reservoirs. Here's a simple modification you can do to help keep your hydraulic fluid clean.

Not only does the filter keep dirt out, it also helps keep fluid in the reservoir when the tractor tilts. The fluid reservoir is a long narrow tank so it doesn't take a lot of tilt to have fluid dribble out of the breather. This same modification can be done to the drive line breather found in the center of the tractor drive line between your feet just in front of the seat if you are working in very dirty conditions.

Keeping Dirt Out

The breather for the hydraulic reservoir is an open 1/4" tube on top of the filler plug. I added a little piece of hose and a clear bodied in-line fuel filter to keep the dirt out.
