RV Decisions
Since this page was first written we have learned a lot. The long page of thought on how we got to our final decision
can be found here: Selecting the RV.

We are getting a custom unit from SpaceCraft Mfg. The floor plan is shown in the picture. Click the picture for more floorplan and cabinet pictures.
Why Custom?
First of all, custom is cheaper than we thought it would be. Secondly, we have one hobby that we plan to follow around
the country for as long as we are able. We do long distance tandem bicycle events. ( www.rusa.org)
Our bicycles are serious pieces of sports equipement. We needed space to store and transport them on the inside. We also
needed a place to store tools and equipement. Think Pit Crew.
Secondly, we plan to take most of our other hobbies with us. This means a lot of stuff that we want stored in the living
space, not in bins in the basement. The design of SpaceCraft does just that, it has a lot of storage in the living space,
not as much in the basement as many others of this size. To get an idea of how much stuff, click here.
And finally, the quality of the frame construction under the unit itself. We were at the factory on 3/10/2006 and saw
a new frame being rolled into the shop. What a massive piece of metal it really is. 5" steel I-beams in the pinbox attachment
area. 2x4 box steel sections throughout. Rather than use two large beams, they create a full box frame out of square
tubular stock. During construction, the whole thing can be supported by jackstands on the corners.

Design Highlights

|
| Interior Color Palette |
Our interior design is based on brown earthtones. The flooring in the LR and kitchen will be 5" wide engineered maple
by Mirage. In the LR, there will be a rug inlay detail from Oshkosh flooring. In the kitchen, a cherry border will add some
character. SpaceCraft will allow me to work in their shop for a few days to install the flooring during construction.
All of the cabinetry will be clear American cherry. A bronze colored ceramic tile for the bathroom floor will round out
the main color selections. The round dinette booth will be a beige leather.
After delivery, the interior walls of the unit will be painted. Almost all of the interiors that we have seen use a type
of vinyl paneling. We wanted to get away from that and SpaceCraft has a solution. Paintable walls. The walls will be made
using a furniture grade birch veneer. All of the main fabrics will be chosen after the walls are painted.

| Rug Inlay Design |
The custom floorplan has a 5'x8' garage for our bicycles and support tools. It has a separate commode room. The front
kitchen design actually has more cabinet space that our stick house. In the MB, there is a wall of 10" deep cabinets that
will provide a large amount of storage for clothing, and other soft goods.
The kitchen will feature full size gas cooking applicances by DeLonghi, a 24" deep residential refridgerator, a
Fisher-Paykel dish drawer, and a small cherry rail detail to open up the space between the kitchen and the LR.
The overall design moves most of the storage from under the unit, into the living space. This works well for us. Tool
storage will not be in the trailer, but will be in the Tow Vehicle in a large drom box.
