This past April, I went to Virginia to build a small deck. It took 3 1/2 days for 3 of us to build the entire thing, including digging all of the post holes with a 12" gas powered auger.

The house has very tall lines. The posts were left long and then capped with copper caps to compliment the tall lines of the house.

The home owner had a garden next to the house that had large imported day lillies that they wanted to keep outside of the breakfast nook window. We created the garden with an integrated bench seat to frame the entire area.

The deck is free floating and needed space for the 6x6 copper caps. The railing detail was inserted to minimize the empty space between the post and the house.

Chillin' Out

At the end of the day, sit down, chill out, and look at the view.
