Nov. 28th 2006 - First Day Training
The first day of training did not go as expected. I did not get home from work until almost 6 PM and it was dark and raining outside. I had stopped at Bass Pro Shop during the day and picked up some training dummies so we could work with the fetch command.

When I came home Lucy was laying in her bed looking worse for the ware. I should mention that I have kids and it looked like they had played her out.

I figured I would work with her a little anyway. I tossed the dummies 3 times in total before she lost interest and went back to her bed to sleep. The good news is that she retrieved the dummy like a pro all three times.

After the rain stopped I relocated her to the yard and we started the fetch command again trying longer distances. This was also going well until my kids made their appearance on the front porch.

I am not sure if Lucy learned anything last night but I certainly did. For future training sessions I will be going to the park where there are no distractions.

Nov. 28th 2006 - Picked up Lucy at PIT airport
I picked up Lucy at the Pittsburgh International Airport this evening. When I arrive Lucy was a little tired and a little scared from being in the crate for 10 hours and the whole ordeal with the flight.

I wanted Lucy to stretch her legs before we continued on our 3 hour drive home. I took lucy to a small patch of field along side the terminal. Lucy immediately started to work the field. She was so excited to be out of the crate and in the field doing what she loves to do. She was acting like a complete goof.

When we arrived home she showed off her natural ability to quarter live animals (my cat). She began to stalk the cat until she had the cat backed into a corner. Everytime the cat attemped to flee past Lucy. Lucy would spin 360 degress and land herself nose to nose with the cat. I have to tell you "I was impressed". The cat was not.

Lucys first night was spent in her kennel. She fussed for a little and then was quiet the remainder of the night.
