| Junior Congregation Kids in the Sukkah |
Junior Congregation is a morning service that occurs monthly during the school year. It is led by, and
for, children ages 6 and older. The service lasts about one hour, and consists of several short prayers sung
to traditional melodies in Hebrew. There are also discussion topics or skits and explanations of prayers. Children
are strongly encouraged to learn the prayers and participate by singing along. They are welcome to attend with no prior
knowledge of Hebrew (our prayer book has Hebrew transliteration). Adults will supervise these services, but children
can volunteer to lead each prayer. To help learn the prayers, you can request a study pack from the Hebrew Tabernacle
office. The study pack consists of copies of the relevant pages of the Siddur, and a CD of the melodies. You don’t need to take the study pack to services – we have prayer books there.
Children who can read Hebrew will find all the Junior Congregation prayers in the Iyyun T'fillah prayer book, that they received at Hebrew School. Services take place in the Social Hall, beginning promptly at 10:30
am. The Junior Congregation service is timed to end at the same time as the adult service. A joint Kiddush
follows.
