Looking west upstream the Arno. The Ponte Vecchio. July 14.

eurotripgilli.jpg

A fancy Florentine restaurant in a beautiful location. But, sadly,  mediocre food and worse service. Tourist season is often offered as an excuse ... perhaps.

eurotripcinqueterre.jpg

Cinque Terre as seen looking northwards towards Rio Maggiore. The flat Ligurian sea to the left contrasts strongly with the upthrusting mountains with perched villages on the right. As I was tired & in a hurry, I snapped the shot despite the unaesthetic cable plunked in the way. July 16.

Looking out over the road en route to Siena's Duomo. Cypresses in the distance. Beautiful & quiet town but somehow lacking in liveliness compared to Firenze. July 17.

eurotripvatican.jpg

Looking out from inside St. Peter's Basilica. The direction is precisely east. The obelisk in St. Peter's Square fits perfectly within the doorway. The contrast between the dark interior and the hot dazzling exterior is apparent in this photograph. July 18.

eurotripcolliseum.jpg

The Colliseum. The two girls in the central group of people, walking towards the C are, left to right, my daughters Anu & Sofia. July 18.

eurotripmontebianco.jpg

Monte Bianco as seen from the Italian side while driving on autostrada T1/A5. It is slightly left of center where the road curves towards. The contrast is so weak that it hard to get a good B&W photo using an inflexible disposable camera. Upon exiting the tunnel out into France it became clear that the view of Mont Blanc is even better. Unfortunately, I'd run out of  exposures. July 19.
