REWARD REINSTATED IN BIGGIE MURDER INVESTIGATION
A $50,000 reward was reinstated by the Los Angeles City Council on Friday for anyone who provides key information
in the unsolved murder of Christopher “The Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace. While it has been almost 10 years since
the rapper was shot and killed in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, very few leads have panned out for investigators.
Biggie’s mom, Voletta Wallace, and his widow, singer Faith Evans, filed
a wrongful death lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles in which they accused former police officers Rafael Perez and David
Mack of conspiring with Death Row founder Suge Knight to kill the rapper.
JIM JONES CONCERT ENDS VIOLENTLY
A party hosted by Dipset rapper Jim Jones ended in tragedy Sept. 22 when one person died
and three were injured in a shootout shortly after the party wrapped up. Witnesses saw multiple shots being fired around 2
a.m. at the Miami Restaurant and Lounge in Virginia Beach, Va. Police, who are investigating the motive behind the shootout,
placed the club on lockdown and one male victim was rushed to hospital in an ambulance. A Virginia Beach Police spokeswoman
told The Virginia Pilot, "The shooting occurred when the club was clearing out. We are still conducting interviews
because there were numerous shooters. One victim died and the other victims suffered serious injuries. One victim was flown
out by helicopter to a local trauma center." No arrests have been made as of yet.

EA Sports Launches NBA Live 07 Game at NY NBA Store
Not only were children ditching school, but parents and grandparents were at their sides as fans
waited patiently for the world wide launch of NBA LIVE 07.
The highly anticipated EA SPORTS NBA LIVE 07, was released Wednesday, Sept. 27, and to celebrate, Tracy McGrady of the Houston Rockets, Tony Parker of the San Antonio Spurs and Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks, made themselves available at the NBA store for a meet and greet with the first 150 fans who pre-purchased the

"This is the best video game," said an excited Parker during an interview with Vibe.com. "They’re doing a great job every year."
McGrady, who is the face of this year's North American edition, said, "It does everything, everything I do on the basketball
court, from the head-fakes to the sweat. My T-Mac signature shoe that isn’t even out yet is even in it." (The T-Mac isn’t
expected to hit the U.S until October, but has been promoted in Korea, China, Hong Kong and the Philippines.)
"It has my sweat, facial expressions and tattoos," said Robinson.
"It's unbelieveable how real it is," added Parker. "Being a part of this is a dream come true."

Cherish: Sisterly Saviors
After the departure of groups like Destiny’s Child, 3LW, TG4 and
the like, the music world seemed to be craving the return of talented, sexy, fun-loving girl groups to bring back a sense
of femininity and spunk. And just when it seemed like female R&B groups might have dissipated forever, Atlanta’s sisterly-songbirds
Cherish arrived on the scene with beauty, talent, and wild personalities to match.
The four sisters (Farrah, 22; Neosha, 20; Fallon and Felisha, 18) captivated audiences with their snap music
hit “Do It To It”, all while remaining friendly, kind-hearted and ready for greater international attention. With their debut
album, Unappreciated, making a showing at #4 on the Billboard Charts, these young singing-sisters - who wrote every
song on their album, by the way - have come to reignite a fire in the music industry that only they can bring.
Vibe.com caught up with the sisters while touring with Ne-yo and Chris Brown to find out what
it's like being sisters in a group, why they can’t seem to get enough of Beyonce and Usher, and how they really
feel about being a part of Atlanta’s tidal wave of music success. Music lovers take note: Cherish has come to “Do It To It”….in
the music game, that is.
Vibe.com: How did you get into the industry?
Fallon: Of course we’re sisters, so we’ve been doing this since we were 2, 4 and 6 years old, and professionally
since we were 7, 9 and 11. So, it’s definitely been a long journey, especially with my mother and father. Our mother and father
used to sing together, so it’s definitely a family affair. We’ve been singing ever since.
Why did you choose to call yourselves Cherish?
Neosha: My dad actually came up with the name. He asked us if we cherished what we were doing, and
of course we said we did, so we decided to call ourselves Cherish.
When did you all realize you had talent and wanted to go into music?
Fallon: Since we were 2, 4 and 6 years old, our older sister had us in the room singing En Vogue,
and my father saw us and he saw that we actually had some talent, so he decided to work with us.
What’s the dynamic like being sisters in the group? How does that help you or hurt you when you’re on
the road?
Neosha:“It definitely helps because we can have debates and arguments and still get on that stage and
love each other and perform. Everything is really cool because we are sisters.
How would you describe your music?
Felisha: It’s traditional because we’ve been influenced by a lot of old school, so we try to mix in
the old school with the new school. We wrote every single song on the album, so it’s definitely personal and real and fun.
It’s got a mixture of that old school and new school feel.
Why did you call the album Unappreciated?
Felisha: Well, it’s a really broad statement, so we thought it would catch everybody’s attention, and
it’s our second single on the album. The feeling of being unappreciated is something we felt everybody could relate to.
What’s each of your favorite songs on the album?
Neosha: I would definitely have to say ‘Moment In Time’ because it really showcases our singing capabilities.
Fallon: I would have to say a song called ‘Chevy’ because it’s definitely broader, and that’s the type
of music I like.
Felisha: I’d have to say ‘Do It To It’ because I like to party!
Now, you said you wrote all of your songs, and you’ve been writing songs for a while now. Where does your
inspiration come from?
Fallon: Well, I think we all have had inspiration to write because we’re very creative people. As sisters,
we have a lot to write about and a lot to talk about. So, with that, we wanted our music to reflect our tales and not come
through anyone else’s tales.
How do you manage to fit all four of your personalities into your music?
Fallon: It’s a great thing because we all have an opinion on it. When you have four people in a group
collaborating on a song, that’s when you come up with a hit.
What do you want people to get out of the album?
Neosha:“We really just wanted everybody to know that we’re true singers and that there’s a lot of soulful
singing on the album. There are a lot of issues we discuss, and we just want people to know that we’re doing it and we’re
real.
Is there anyone you really look up to in the industry?
Fallon: I would have to say I admire Ne-Yo as a writer because he wrote all his own songs, just like
we did.
Neosha: I would have to say Usher and Chris Brown because of their work ethic and their performances
are amazing. Performing is not an easy job, so just seeing them perform is amazing.
Felisha: I’m going to say Beyonce because by the time I’m her age, I want to be exactly where she is
right now. I like the fact that she can be so humble and have so much respect.
How do you feel about the southern/Atlanta movement? Are you happy that it’s come when you entered the
industry?
Fallon: Oh yes, definitely. We’re very excited because we came at the right moment, even though it
wasn’t planned. When we came up with ‘Do It To It,’ it just sort of happened. So, we’re happy to have become a part of this
big movement.
What have you learned from your experiences so far?
Felisha: We’ve learned not to take anything for granted, even when people might make you upset. You’ve
got to work as hard as you can, and everybody would love to be in the position we’re in right now. So, we definitely don’t
take anything for granted.
So, what’s been the best part about reaching success? Be honest!
Neosha: Oh, it’s definitely the fans. They’ve shown us so much love. We’re not successful until all
of the fans are in support of us, so I’d definitely have to say the fans are the best part.
What sort of legacy do you want to leave on the industry?
Neosha: We want everybody to remember the times of the 1960s and 70s when there was real music, and
I want people to think about us now in 2006 the same way they thought about those times and those artists. Not about Crunk
music, but when it comes to Cherish, I want them to remember that those girls could really sing and they were actually real
and they did it all because they did their own music.

Life can be painful. Life can be a challenge and life can be a breeze.
Singer/songwriter Lyfe, a record-breaking five-time
winner on "Showtime At the Apollo," knows life's highs and lows from direct experience. Graced with a poet's heart and a hustler's
instincts, Lyfe has navigated his way through darkness and emerged with Lyfe 268-192, his starkly soulful debut from Sony
Urban Music/Columbia Records.
Written, produced, sung and lived by Lyfe Jennings, Lyfe 268-192 (referring to his former
prison number) is an R&B album that doesn't derive its inspiration from glossy magazines or strip clubs. Instead, its
a melodic cycle of raw urban turbulence and ultimate redemption, an achingly honest set of narratives that strike close to
the bone and come straight from the heart of soul. The album signals the arrival of a fresh unvarnished talent, a startling
new voice on the musical landscape and is a classic, making a huge impact on the hearts and minds of fans worldwide.
Without
prefabricated hype, glossy ad campaigns or sexed up videos, Lyfes message has become a phenomenon. He offers, You can talk
about something real and relevant and still get some record spins. Bolstered by tremendous word of mouth, a rep as a compelling
live performer and two singles, "Must Be Nice," a song with a simple moral, be thankful for what you have, and according to
Lyfe, is about when "you've got somebody good and you just hold on to them. His second single Hypothetically Featuring Fantasia
is a situational drama set to beautiful acoustic sounds. Lyfes debut is platinum and has insistently made its presence felt
at urban radio.
Its clear that Lyfe Jennings mission and music are galvanizing audiences, and the organic manner in
which success has occurred suits the 20 something songwriter. I feel really good about everything thats happened with the
album because it represents security in terms of my career. Because when things pop off really quick a lot of times you can
attribute that success to radio or a lot of ads in magazines. But when you naturally grow and make that connection from being
out on the road, then youve made real relationships and real fans who will stick by you.
Lyfe has cemented that relationship
with his live performances; ones that possess you with the spirit to share the lived-in truths learned first-hand from his
relationships, betrayal and the streets. Over the past 18 months Lyfe has toured with some of the heaviest hitters in R&B
including label mate John Legend, Angie Stone, Floetry and Anthony Hamilton. It was while out on the road, spreading his message
that Lyfe began to realize that his debut was becoming the little album that could. I realized my record was blowing up as
I saw the rooms getting bigger, sales started to grow and are still growing after nearly two years. Lyfe reflects.
Its
not hard to figure out why when Lyfe 268-192 takes on a variety of unlikely subjects. Greedy about child support from a mans
perspective, dating a woman with kids She Got Kids and ultimately the stirring "Cry," which, according to Lyfe, is "a lot
about me." It is also a song he sang to win "Showtime at the Apollo." Co-produced by Rhemario "Rio" Webber," "Cry" is about
emotional truth. "They say men don't cry but this song is to tell them that I've been through the same things ya'll been through
and believe me, sometimes you need a release," Lyfe confesses.
Born in Toledo Ohio, Lyfe grew up in a working class
family, the middle of five kids. He first began singing in church and, by the time he was a teen, he'd joined 'The Dotsons,'
a small family vocal act consisting of his older brother and two cousins. With a sound similar to New Edition's, the Dotsons
won local talent shows and recorded a demo, which Lyfe laughs, "went nowhere." Yet despite the lack of success, Lyfe was getting
offers from local producers to go solo. Those dreams came to an abrupt halt when, Lyfe, who'd fallen in with bad company,
was sentenced to a jail sentence that resulted in him serving 10 years, 8 months and 13 days hard time. It was during his
darkest times that Lyfe discovered that music was more than a hobby. It would be his salvation.
Lyfe learned how to
play guitar, wrote songs and set up music programs for other inmates. The prison administration was supportive, hooking Lyfe
up with equipment and video to tape his "gigs." As Lyfe's sentence was drawing to a close, he asked the authorities if they
could compile a reel of his shows so that he could submit it to "Showtime In Harlem" formerly "Showtime At the Apollo." Making
an exception to strict policy, the warden agreed and soon Lyfe's performances reached executives on the show. As fate would
have it, two days before Lyfe was to go home, he heard back from Apollo powers-that-be, who told him they were willing to
overlook the formal audition process and booked him for the show.
The day after his release Lyfe headed to the studio
and recorded a demo. Weeks later he piled into a rental car with his older brother, his manager, two friends and a box of
demos then drove to New York City during a snowstorm, where his destiny awaited him. "I'm not the kind of guy who is excitable,"
he says, "but here I was, starting out doing what I wanted to do straight outta the gate. In January 2003 Lyfe was on-stage
at the legendary Apollo. Despite his wealth of talent, Lyfe admits to being a bit 'shook' by the experience and humbled performing
"in a place where a lot of greatness started off."
Lyfe joined that roster of greats when he performed "Cry" and was
greeted by a standing ovation. He won the competition, received another standing ovation, and repeated that pattern a total
of five times culminating with his last win in February 2004. Not surprisingly, the industry started to pay attention and
soon Lyfe was performing at showcases and fielding various offers. The commute from Toledo became wearing so Lyfe relocated
to New York, signed with Columbia Records after a meeting with President, Don Einer where he sang She Got Kids with, Nicole,
his acoustic guitar. Lyfe immediately began work on Lyfe 268-192. While recording he continued to gig and tour, ratcheting
up the anticipation even higher for what he was about to present.
Now February 2006, firmly on the way to the top recently
finishing his own nationwide headlining tour, is featured on L.L. Cool Js next single Freeze, nominated for a Soul Train Award
and currently recording his sophomore album, Lyfe is in a position to both soak it all in as well as reflect upon his astounding
achievement. Im happy with the way my career is going, but at the same time I havent really focused on the sales and attention
as much as I have my craft. Its sort of like when youre painting a picture and somebody asks how it looks. You really cant
judge because youre in the middle of creating it. After youre done you can step back and examine it. Right now? Im still painting
a picture.

Chingy
The former member of Disturbing tha Peace has represented St. Louis well, with two smash Top 10 albums in the last three years and five Top 10 hip-hop tracks.
His third album, "Hoodstar," has already provided a rap and R&B smash with "Pulling Me Back," featuring Tyrese, and includes appearances from Oscar winners Three 6 Mafia, along with an unbeatable lineup of star producers: Mannie Fresh, Timbaland and, fresh from his work on the Janet Jackson album, Mr. Jermaine Dupri. This is villainous, sexified crunk alongside mainstream party mixes.

Hip Hop Caucus President to Use Civil Disobedience at White House
Giving Congress up to September 21 to stop the invasion of Iraq, Reverend Lennox Yearwood,
CEO of the Hip Hop Caucus of Washington D.C., and Church of God and Christ minister, plans to lead a press conference
in front of the White House to protest the war in Iraq on Thursday (Sept. 21).
Yearwood, citing a moral obligation, says that he, along with 270 cities and 350 organizations nationwide,
will no longer be passive observers of Bush’s War on Terror. “We are in a time of peril in which people of morals have to
stand up. We are willing to do whatever it takes—all on peace—to urge Congress and the administration to take a new course
on Iraq, including a timely and responsible withdrawal of troops,” he stated.
Known for his work with ubiquitous hip hop stars such as Jay-Z and Diddy (as senior consultant to their "Voice Your Choice" and "Citizen Change" groups, respectively) as well as serving
as national grassroots and political director for Russell Simmons’ Hip Hop Summit Action Network, Yearwood and about fifty supporters plan to demonstrate with speeches
and a public signing of a “Declaration of Peace” document.
Some of the speech participants slated to be in attendance are Congressman John Lewis (GA) and national
religious leader Father Louis Vitale, former pastor of Saint Barnabas Church.
Yearwood intends to present the "Declaration of Peace" to President Bush by approaching the White House gates
with interlocked arms. Yearwood adds, “We will do whatever it takes [even] if it calls to be arrested or bodily harmed, we
must make a stand.”
Events, dubbed “A Week of Action,” will follow with peace vigils, fund-raising dinners, workshops, peace caravans,
pole planting, and parades throughout the country and in Puerto Rico until the 28.

Janet Jackson Scores #1 on 'Billboard's' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Chart
with 'Call on Me' |
|
|
Less than two weeks before R&B superstar Janet Jackson's eagerly awaited new album, "20
Y.O.," hits stores, the lead single, "Call on Me," has claimed the Number One slot on "Billboard's" Hot R&B/Hip-Hop
chart, which is based on a combination of radio airplay and sales.
The Janet/Nelly duet is the music icon's 15th
Number One and 30th Top 10 single on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Janet is now tied with R. Kelly for scoring
the most Top 10 singles since "Billboard" began compiling its information from Nielsen SoundScan data in 1992. She tops
the R&B chart, in existence for 64 years, ahead of all artists since 1984.
The second single from "20 Y.O.,"
the steamy dance-pop track "So Excited," hearkens back to Janet's career-making 1986 album "Control." The track, which
features rapper Khia, hit radio on August 28th, while a sexy companion video clip, lensed by award-winning director, Joseph
Kahn, debuted on BET's "Access Granted."
On September 25th, the day before "20 Y.O." is released, Janet will appear
on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to chat with Oprah and sing "So Excited." She will also excite hundreds of fans in New York
City when she performs three songs on NBC's "The Today Show" on September 29th.

Zab Judah's Wife Gets Physical, Ex-wife To Go To Court
It seems as if boxer Zab Judah has taught his wife, Meda Judah, a little something
about getting physical... outside the boxing ring, that is.
As reported by the Daily News today (Sept. 18), Zab Judah and his wife got into
a bit of a scuffle last week, when Mrs. Judah showed up to New York's Club Sol not only to find Judah there with Serena
Williams in VIP, but to find herself unable to enter the "Very Important People" section, where Judah and Williams were
reportedly partying.
"She threw a hysterical fit," said a source. "She grabbed her husband and dragged him out of the club. She
showed him who the champ was."
According to reports, Williams hung out with Busta Rhymes, who was also present, for the rest of the
night.
In related news, Zab's ex-wife Natassia Wright, and mother of his 4-year-old daughter, is scheduled
to attend Queens Family Court on Wednesday (Sept. 20). She is due to demand $100,488 in back child support.

'Gridiron Gang' tramples 'Dahlia' | | | |

 |
| The Rock helped wrestle up some business at the box office for 'The Gridiron Gang.' |
| Football
scored again this weekend at the movies, with "Gridiron Gang" racking up an unexpectedly easy win over "The Black Dahlia."
"Gridiron Gang," which stars wrestling personality The Rock as a coach who puts together a team of convicts, earned
$15 million to $10.4 million for "The Black Dahlia."
"Dahlia," the noirish tale of a sordid Hollywood murder that stars Josh Hartnett and Scarlett Johansson, was the
weekend's biggest disappointment, as its box-office take matched its mediocre reviews.
"Gridiron Gang" is the fifth No.1 movie for The Rock, who is looking to move into the action-hero void. It isn't
quite as light-hearted as the last big prison-football flick, "The Longest Yard."
"Invincible," the Mark Wahlberg feel-good football film that was No.1 four weeks ago, dropped to sixth with $3.9
million.
Two other new films finished third and fourth: "Everyone's Hero," a baseball cartoon that involves Babe Ruth, and
"The Last Kiss," a romantic comedy starring Zach Braff as a twentysomething who feels trapped by his pregnant girlfriend.
The weekend's top 12 films earned $61.9 million, up from last week, but down from $70.6 million on the corresponding
weekend last year.
Next weekend's hopes are riding on the long-awaited sequel "Jackass: Number Two," the action flick "Jet Li's Fearless"
and two dramas: "Flyboys," about World War I pilots, and "All the King's Men," based on the life of Louisiana kingpin Huey
Long. |

Whitney Houston Files For Separation From Bobby Brown
In the October issue of Vibe Magazine, writer Rob Kenner asked: Can Bobby and Whitney face the music together? Apparently not, since Whitney
has filed for legal separation from her long-time husband.

As reported by Access Hollywood Online, Legal documents were filed Friday and Brown was served with those
documents yesterday (Sept. 12). The website also reported Houston made an unexpected appearance at the "The Society of Singers
Presents the 15th Annual Ella Award honoring Johnny Mathis" event at the Beverly Hills Hotel last night, accompanied by her
mentor, Clive Davis, and cousin Dionne Warwick, who performed at the event.
Reportedly, Whitney looked healthy and happy, which hasn't always been the case as of late.
Whitney is also supposedly back in the lab working on a new album (read Whitney Houston Readies Songs For Comeback Album).
Though the couple has been married for 14 years (read When Bobby Met Whitney... The Timeline), and have one daughter, Bobbi Kristina, Houston allegedly plans to officially file for divorce in October.

Since getting released from lockdown, Lil' Kim has gotten a few fresh lacefront wigs and
been making the rounds at various events. But red carpet photo ops aren't enough for the Queen Bee. She plans to return to the stage and will have her first post-incarceration performance at this year's VH1 Hip-Hop Honors. She'll perform
"Lyte As A Rock" in tribute to MC Lyte, one of this year's honorees.
Snoop Dogg's voice and likeness have already been used in a number of cartoons and now he will get animated again when The Adventures of Blue Carpet Treatment DVD hits stores alongside the
new CD Blue Carpet Treatment. The DVD will include scenes of Snoop Dizzle having sexizzle and other assorted raunch.
Kelis strutted her bossy stuff down the runway at the Heatherette show during New York Fashion Week. She looked damn good in a funky red number. You better
work, Mrs. Jones.

Today is the 10th Anniversary of the death of Tupac Shakur, and tributes are everywhere in
rememberance of the fallen hip hop icon. One tribute that caught VC's eye is Tupac Radio over on Yahoo! Music.
The station name would lead one to believe that the channel is only playing 'Pac songs, since lawd knows he
has enough albums to fill a radio playlist. But that couldn't be farther from the truth. Tupac Radio is described as "a diverse
mix of songs related to the late hip hop legend."
Aight, we guess we can live with that. But how would Tupac feel knowing that music by the Notorious
B.I.G. was being played on a station bearing his name, seeing as he hated Biggie up until his death?
Something tells us he's spilling his Thug Passion up in Thug Mansion as we speak.

The lastest rumor to hit the streets is that Keshia Knight Pulliam, commonly known as little
Rudy from The Cosby Show, is a heavy cocaine user.
Apparently she picked this habit up at Spelman College along with her Delta Sigma Theta affiliation and degree
in sociology. And here we thought the Cosby kids (with the exception of Lisa Bonet) escaped any drama unlike
the bunch from Diff'rent Strokes. VC wonders what outspoken Bill Cosby has to say about this.
DMX clowns Jay-Z in the lastest issue of Vibe for wearing flip flops. DMX thinks that Jigga's love for Beyonce has affected his footwear
choices. According to DMX real thugs aren't supposed to let their toes breathe.
