Luda Speaks On Wayne Gun Case
Luda Speaks On Wayne
Gun Case
In light of news that Lil Wayne may be facing
up to one year in jail for gun charges, Ludacris, who has collaborated with the rapper on several occasions, gave his two
cents on Weezy’s impending sentence.
“Wayne will live up to the responsibility of whatever he feels his
actions were,” Ludacris told bloggers during a recent roundtable. “I also feel that something tells me he has enough music
to last if he were to go to jail for 10 years, let alone eight months.”
He continued, “That is one of the hardest working negroes I know.
Him personally, I definitely send my regards out to him, but I feel like he’ll be ok. He definitely has a presence in the
music world, so he’ll be great."
As previously reported, Wayne pled guilty in his New York gun case
last week. Under the plea, Wayne could spend up to 12 months behind bars rather than the 3 ½ years minimum when found guilty
in New York state.

Alicia Opens Up
Alicia Opens Up
Alicia Keys sat down for a tete-a-tete with
MTV’s Sway Calloway for the Elements of Freedom – The Lecture Performance Series at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing
Arts last night (October 21).
During the interview, Keys spoke about her creative process, what
she learned from her favorite singer/songwriter, Linda Perry, and gave NYU students advice on how to apply zen philosophy
to their college lives, among other things.
In one of the night’s most interesting moments, Keys revealed that
despite the success of her last LP, "As I Am," she went through a rough period during which she realized that certain people
close to her didn’t have her best interests at heart.
“I think that one thing that is certain about life is there’s gonna
be transitions,” Keys told Sway. “There’s always something that's gonna happen in our life that forces you to grow, forcing
us to go to a new place an a next level. And at first, it's crazy, it's scary… I had to find the snakes in the grass and pull
them out. Some of them were friends of mine.”
“Getting through it was a process,” she continued. “I definitely knew
that nothing could stop me. I just had to find he parts of me that needed to be changed and the parts around me that needed
to be changed. When people pull you down, you gotta cut those ties.”
Sway then opened up the floor for members of the audience to ask questions.
One student asked Keys if she had any advice on learning to write hit songs rather than good ones.
“I find that the best songs are not always more clever,” Keys explained.
“They don't always have the best wordplay…It's the process of finding a truth. A good friend of mine said a good song is three
chords and the truth. I try not to get into the hit thing too tough. I try to get into what feels right. Just go from the
heart.”
The lecture concluded with Keys speaking on Stevie Wonder’s influence
on her career.
“He taught me how to experiment, how to try things,” she offered.
“He definitely showed me how to try, try to reach for the unbelievable.”
Following a brief opening set from her back up singer Jermaine Paul,
Keys took to the stage to perform fan-favorites like “You Don’t Know My Name” and “Fallin’.” She also performed “Doesn’t
Mean Anything,” the first single off "Elements of Freedom" and introduced a new record off the album titled, “Try
Sleepin’ With A Broken Heart” before closing off the evening with renditions of “If I Ain’t Got You” and “No One.”

Mase Freed From Bad Boy
It looks like Mase is a free man. The former Bad Boy superstar
made a surprise visit to the V103 Atlanta radio station where his former boss, Sean "Diddy" Combs was stopping by to promote
his Dirty Money project.
The rapper-turned-pastor-turned-rapper stormed the airwaves with a
smile on his face and paperwork in hand that would grant him his contractual freedom.
Rolling with Shuudup.com, the rapper looked like a happy kid on Christmas
as he commented on how long he's been waiting for his opportunity. "It took me 10 years to get this paperwork,” Mase told
Kim of shuddup.com. “I had to put this in UPS, I don't want to have nothing spill on it. I don't even know what I'm gonna
put out now.”
Feelings aside, Diddy spoke on the situation, trying to clear the
air and let positivity shine on the day's breakthrough. "People have felt like with our situation, I may have stopped him,”
Diddy offered. “He can do whatever he wanna do. If you want those Mase verses, you can go get your hustle on right now. You
know he got a slick tongue, though. He's a mean negotiator so you better come with that guap."
Mase doesn’t mark the first time Diddy released
an artist from his label. Following the “let the Lox go” campaign in the late ‘90s, the Puffster let the Yonkers trio out
of their contract. He initially held on to their publishing until he relinquished his rights a few years ago. He also let
Shyne walk shortly after his conviction.

New Beyoncé Video To Feature Lady Gaga
New Beyoncé Video To Feature Lady Gaga
It’s true. MTV has confirmed that Beyoncé Knowles and
Lady Gaga will be collaborating for Knowles’ top secret “Video Phone” clip.
According to a spokesperson for Hype Williams, the video’s director,
the visual was shot last week in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The rep did not disclose further details.
"Everything on the set was being kept very
hush-hush and security was extremely tight," an insider told Life and Style Magazine. "Beyonce wears a feathered dress. And,
of course, Lady Gaga wears something wild. The fashion is sick and insane.”
Sources believe that Gaga will add additional
vocal work to the track, but Beyoncé and Gaga have yet to publicly speak on the matter.

Michael Wouldn't Like Movie, Says LaToya
Michael Wouldn't Like Movie, Says LaToya
Michael Jackson's posthumous film, "This Is It," is on par
to become the most successful concert film off all time and take in over $250 million in its first five days of release, according
to online ticket sales predictions. Yet, sister LaToya believes MJ would not be pleased.
In an interview with "Access Hollywood," LaToya says that Michael
"wasn't giving it his all," in the footage because it was a rehearsal. With that in mind, sister LaToya believes that Michael
wouldn't want people to see the performances.
"He loves to give his all always. That's just the way he is," Jackson
said. "He wants people to see him at the top of the ladder and not half-stepping because he doesn't want to do a full-out
rehearsal.”
Despite her qualms with the impending documentary, LaToya says she'll
stand by the film.
"I will support my brother in any way I can...
I love him," she said.
"This Is It" will be in theaters October
28.

Busta Rhymes To Pay $75K For Albany Assault
Busta Rhymes To Pay $75K
For Albany Assault
After his alleged involvement in an altercation during a show
at SUNY Albany back in 2003, Busta Rhymes (born Trevor Smith) has been ordered to hand over $75,000 to Alex Duncan, who was
severely injured during the fight.
Duncan, who claims he was assaulted with champagne bottles and sucker
punched by Busta and his security detail, told authorities that he not only experienced nightmares from the confrontation,
but suffered from psychological after-effects due to the incident.
Though Duncan’s lawyer, Ronald Hart, originally requested a $500,000
settlement, Duncan was only rewarded $75,000. “It's all right,” Duncan told the New York Post of the victory. “I
wanted something to come out of it. I don't even go to parties anymore, because there's always someone asking, 'What happened
to that Busta Rhymes case?'"
Rhymes and his attorney Robert Kalina did not attend the trial and
yesterday’s damages hearing.
Busta Rhymes is currently in the studio putting
the finishing touches on his ninth solo project, The Chemo, which is scheduled for a 2010 release via Flipmode/Universal
Motown.

Trina Hearts Nicki Minaj
Trina Hearts Nicki
Minaj
Trina is too confident to be jealous. Though
Nicki Minaj obviously borrows the sexy femme fatale blueprint from artists like Foxy Brown, Lil’ Kim and Trina, the Brooklyn
legends have yet to publicly cosign the Queens spitter. Meanwhile, the self-proclaimed “baddest chick” has nothing but praise
for Minaj.
“I love her,” Trina told BET.com. “I think that she’s dope. I think
that she’s talented. I think that she’s fly and I want to see her succeed, I want to see her, you know, get that bread that
we got in this industry.”
The more sex-driven female MCs have always had a hard time co-existing.
Foxy and Kim have been feuding for most of their careers, while Trina herself has bad blood with Khia. Still, despite Minaj’s
current popularity, the Miami rapstress feels secure in her slot.
“That comes with confidence though, you know that right?” Trina explained.
“Everybody’s not like that. If you’re not confident, you’re not going to be able to give props to another woman because so
many bash me for that and I’m just like, I just got 100 percent confidence in my skill. I don’t know what your problem is.
“I give respect where respect is due and that’s basically what it
is,” she added. “If I deal with you, I deal with you. If I don’t, I don’t. And it ain’t no insecurity, I love women. You do
your thing, when you’re bad, do it.”
Though the two have yet to actually sit down
face to face, they speak consistently via telephone and text message. Nicki is actually featured on Trina’s soon-to-be-released
fifth studio LP, "Amazin’," which is slated to hit stores in 2010. The project also features guest appearances by
Ludacris, Jagged Edge, Rick Ross, Keri Hilson and others.
Trina appears on the 2009 BET Hip-Hop
Awards airing October 27th at 8/7c.

Jay-Z “Run This Town” Parody Hits Big
Jay-Z “Run This Town” Parody Hits Big
The Yankees are apparently generating a different
kind of hit. With the Bronx Bombers recently winning their first round series against the Minnesota Twins, New York’s Z100
(100.3 FM) radio station has recorded a parody of Jay-Z’s “Run this Town” titled, “The Yankees Run This Town.”
Inspired by Rihanna’s chorus, David Brody, executive producer for
“Elvis Duran and The Morning Show,” penned: "Winning games like it's not fair/ The Yankees rule so we don't care/ 26 World
Series rings/ Time to pop some more champagne/ Victory's within the mile/ Almost there, don't give up now/ Only thing that's
on my mind/ The Yanks gonna run this town tonight."
"This song is not false bravado because the
Yankees are really good this year," Brody told the New York Daily News. "My hope is that he likes the song and will ultimately
sing it himself. It would be the highlight of my parody career."
Z100 listeners have reportedly been requesting
the song on the airwaves. Jay’s a longtime Yankee fan. On his new single, “Empire State of Mind” featuring Alicia Keys, he
boasts, “I made the Yankee hat more famous than the Yankee can.” Hov also sat in Alex Rodriguez’s box seats during the Minnesota
Vs. New York series.

50 Cent Responds To Fabolous' Twitter Jabs
50 Cent Responds To
Fabolous' Twitter Jabs
50 Cent recently got some of New York’s finest MCs together
on Governor's Island to show solidarity, but fellow Big Apple rapper, Fabolous, has taken note of the irony.
Posting comments about Fif's ThisIs50 Festival via Twitter, he mentioned
that the show had him puzzled, saying, "It's interesting to see 50 Cent unite with NY artists when he's one of the reasons
NY hip-hop became so isolated & crumbled... Do you agree NY??"
Never one to bite his tongue, the G-Unit general addressed Fab's comments.
He took to his own blog to let the world know what he thought about the man he assumed was his friend.
"Reading what Fab said about me on Twitter was disappointing,” Fif
wrote on his blog. “I have extended myself to Fab personally to allow him to expand himself as an international touring artist.
I thought we were friends but that's cool.”
It doesn't stop there. But rather than jab back, Fif made a point
to quote a law from his New York Times best-selling book, "The 50th Law."
"Law #2: Never put too much trust in friends, learn how to use enemies.
Be wary of friends - they will betray you more quickly, for they are easily aroused to envy. They also become spoiled and
tyrannical. But hire a former enemy and he will be more loyal than a friend, because he has more to prove. In fact, you have
more to fear from friends than from enemies. If you have no enemies, find a way to make them."
The ThisIs50 Fest featured appearances from
Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch, with whom the Queens mogul started beef on “Piggy Bank” from 2005's "The Massacre." The
two parties have since squashed their differences. Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, Maino, Wale, 50 Cent and G-Unit also performed
at the concert.

Beyonce Breaks Silence On Kanye VMA Outburst
Beyonce Breaks Silence
On Kanye VMA Outburst
Beyoncé recently (October 2nd) broke silence regarding Kanye
West’s MTV Video Music Awards outburst during a luncheon in which she was honored with the 2009 Billboard Woman of the Year
award.
As previously reported, Kanye crashed the VMA stage during country
pop singer Taylor Swift’s acceptance for Female Video of the Year—asserting that Bey deserved the trophy over Swift. Shortly
after receiving a series of boos, West was escorted off the premises. Days later, the rapper/producer apologized profusely
through numerous media outlets including his own blog.
Pink and Floetry songstress Marsha Ambrosius harshly criticized Yeezy
for his tirade, while Jay-Z came to his defense—noting that the controversy was blown out of proportion. Yet, Knowles
hadn’t spoke on the incident until now.
Speaking with Gayle King during the Billboard luncheon, Beyoncé said
of the incident, “Well I knew his intentions and I knew he [Kanye] was standing up for art. He told me before they said the
nominees, ‘You have this award.’ And when they didn’t call my name he was completely shocked.”
Unaware of Kanye’s plan to bum rush Taylor’s speech, a cloud of embarrassment
hovered over Beyoncé’s head once West began expressing his opinion on live TV. “When he walked on stage I’m like ‘No, no,
no no, please’ and he spoke and I was like ‘No, no, no, no’ [laughs].”
The class act that she is, Beyoncé later
allowed Swift to have her VMA moment, when she beat out the singer for Video of the Year. “In the end, it ended up being a
great night," Bey told King. "Taylor Swift did get her moment and I didn’t have to make an acceptance speech [Laughs].”
