It's hard to believe that in just nine
days we'll be hitting the road for our long drive to Walt Disney World. We have been stocking up on all kinds
of stuff for the car trip that will make the ride as easy as possible for the kids. We've chosen to leave after
school and work and drive as far as possible that first night. We'll stop sometime that evening and find a
hotel room to crash, then it will be up the next morning bright and early, finding the nearest Cracker Barrel restaurant for
a nice big breakfast, then driving until we arrive in Walt Disney World. There are activity books
and movies and games galore ready to go to keep the kids busy. I think they'll be just fine since we've done an 8-hour
drive with them in the past, and this will just be two days in a row of about that long of a drive each time. There
isn't much more to be done at this point except getting the minivan in for replacing the brake pads. They aren't giving
me a problem, but they were close to needing replacement at the last service visit during the summer so with such a long
drive coming up I figured it was best to get the work done now. I also had to replace my beloved Canon Elph camera as
it began to have technical difficulties about 2 weeks ago. It was just getting worse and since it's now
at the point where it won't focus and I have no time to look into repairs which would probably cost as much as replacement,
I went ahead and got a new model. We should be all set in the gadgets department now, just have to charge up all the
batteries before the trip!
