Abolish the Death Penalty in NH
 
In 2008 we have two capital cases pending in NH.  The New Hampshire Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty is working to recreate its membership and have a established a new website to communicate through.  

They are strategizing on viable steps we can take to abolish the death penalty now.  Please take the opportonity to partner with the coalition to end the death penalty in NH. Amnesty group 550 table at this even and will display a variety of Amnesty International materials including bookmark/postcards and casesheets for Banned Books Week. Our table and banner will be near Tents of Hope, the Darfur relief organization with which we frequently collaborate.

AI Local Group 550 will host a Book Event to mark the publication of "Five Years of My Life" by Murat Kurnaz, with Frank Heffron and Peter Somssich (AI Case Workers for Murat Kuranz, a former Guantanamo detainee), and special guest Prof. Baher Azmey (Kurnaz's American lawyer)

Hear Grace Akallo, author of GIRL SOLDIER speak about decades of brutal armies of rebels raiding villages in northern Uganda, kidnapping children and turning them into soldiers or wives of commanders. More than 30,000 children have been abducted over the last twenty years. Grace Akallo was one of these. Her story recounts her terrifying experience.
