9th Championship for Darrel Turner!
Fulks Run, Va. (June 24-26, 2005) – The Turners again dominated
the championship flight of the 2005 VaWVa State Croquet Championships. Darrel
Turner won the tournament Championship for the 9th time, defeating his cousin, Ron Turner decisively 26-4. Ron earlier won over Gary Turner, 19-9, who took third place in the Championship
Flight. All are members of the Fulks Run Croquet Club.
Marie Haas,
Confederate Hills CC, overcoming a disappointing first day, toughed it out to win the First Flight in a tight match with Dave
Palmer, Crest Ridge CC 17-16. Marie earlier edged out Conrad Haas,
Confederate Hills CC, 20-19, with the final wicket scored in last ball, last turn. He
placed third.
In the Second Flight, Jack Chase, Middle Peninsula CC took
first place with a 15-13 win over Jacob VanDoren, Confederate Hills CC. John
Lee, Middle Peninsula CC was third.

Middle Peninsula Croquet Club
Invites all players (USCA
or not) with handicaps 7 or higher to Croquet in Williamsburg. This doubles event will be held
on Saturday, July 16, 2005 on the Green at the Williamsburg Inn.
2 Flights - Open to first
16 teams of two - Prizes awarded - Refreshments and light snacks provided - Cost $40 per team.
Conrad and Marie Haas will also
be there to instruct and coach new or inexperienced players. We want you to be comfortable and have fun.

Croquet Fun at The Inn at Warner Hall - June 29
The Middle
Peninsula Croquet Club used Golf Croquet to create team building and lots of fun for top executives of National
Financial, a Fidelity Investments Company. They facilitated the group at The Inn at Warner Hall, one of the finest Inns
on the East Coast. John Lee, Jack Chase, Bob McCreary, Graham Hood, Carter and Conrad
Haas coached the group.
Great Falls CC Moving Along
Led by
President Salome Gaibler, Great Falls CC near Fairfax, VA, now has nine enthusiastic members. Conrad
and Marie Haas attended their initial meeting of the year April 17 and rejoined the group for a fun-filled
instructional session May 6th.
Cedar Point Croquet Club
Located in Northern Suffolk on the James River, they
last year, with Conrad and Marie Haas, organized a 9-wicket croquet club that meets monthly between
April and November. Their president is John Norcross and they have about 15+ enthusiastic members.
Westminster Canterbury
Croquet Club
They play a 'wicket' game of golf croquet
weekly at Virginia Beach right off the ocean. Charles Nausbaum is their leader and they have 15+ members at this
retirement center.
Country Club of Virginia

July - Tuesday July 12 and Wednesday July 13: Archie Peck
will be back to teach beginner, intermediate and advanced clinics. Tuesday July 12 at 6:00 pm: Courtside party with
games and contests.
September - Wednesday, September 14: Archie Peck and David
Bent return for clinics followed by a party courtside and a demonstration game.
October - Mack Penwell from Pinehurst will be back for clinics.
