Executive Office of the President of the United States
White House Chief of Staff
The highest-ranking member of the Executive Office of the President
of the United States. It can be a very powerful position, and the Chief of
Staff is sometimes even dubbed "The Most Powerful Man in Washington."
The duties of the position can vary greatly from administration to administration,
but generally the Chief of Staff is responsible overseeing the actions of
other members of White House staff, managing the president's timetable, and
controlling outsiders' access to the president.
Informally, the Chief of Staff is often one of the President's closest political
advisors, and a close friend.
United States Office of Management and Budget
A body within the Executive Office of the President of the United States which is tasked with coordinating United States Federal agencies. The OMB performs this coordination by gathering and filtering budget requests, and by issuing circulars which the agencies must then implement as regulations.
National Security Advisor ; United States National Security Council
The President's principal forum for considering national security and foreign policy matters with his senior national security advisors and cabinet officials. Since its inception under President Truman, the function of the Council has been to advise and assist the President on national security and foreign policies. The Council also serves as the President's principal arm for coordinating these policies among various government agencies.
United States Trade Representative
Responsible for developing and coordinating U.S. international
trade, commodity, and direct investment policy, and leading or directing negotiations
with other countries on such matters. The U.S. Trade Representative is a Cabinet
member who serves as the President's principal trade advisor, negotiator,
and spokesperson on trade and related investment matters.
Council of Economic Advisers
Provides the President with objective economic analysis and advice on the development and implementation of a wide range of domestic and international economic policy issues.
Council on Environmental Quality
Coordinates federal environmental efforts and oversees the development of environmental policies and initiatives.
Domestic Policy Council
Coordinates the domestic policy-making process in the White House and offers policy advice to the President.
National Economic Council
Advises the President on matters related to U.S. and global economic policy.
Office of Administration
Provides administrative services to all entities of the Executive Office of the President.
Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiative
Their goal is to make sure that grassroots leaders can compete
on an equal footing for federal dollars, receive greater private support,
and face fewer bureaucratic barriers.
Office of Global Communications
Coordinates strategic communications overseas that integrate the President's themes while truthfully depicting America and Administration policies.
Office of National AIDS Policy
Coordinating our continuing domestic efforts to reduce the number of new infections in the U.S.
Office of National Drug Control Policy
Establishes policies, priorities, and goals for the Nation's drug control program.
Office of Science and Technology
Serves as a source of scientific and technological analysis and judgment for the President with respect to major policies, plans, and programs of the Federal Government.
President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board
Provides advice to the President concerning the quality and adequacy of intelligence collection, of analysis and estimates, of counterintelligence, and of other intelligence activities.
White House Military Office
The principal advisor to the White House for all military support and oversees all military operations.
Vice- President of the United States
President of the Senate and a spokesperson for the administration's policy, as an adviser to the President, and as a symbol of American concern or support.
