"She'll be better in
a day. Wounds heal differently on this island, maybe a day and a half ".
And with those words we learn that the island does have some kind of
healing properties. Just the fact that Patchy was still alive after the ear bleeding, mouth foaming zap he got would
seem to back this up. Juliet's sperm count facts and figures further this idea. Of course it could be Mikhail's clone we saw,
or even Smokey, but that doesn't change the fact that people do seem to have incredible recoveries on this island.
Lots of answers tonight. 815's been found and there were no survivors (not sure I
believe this one completely). All the gear from Claires drugged out experience in the Other's maternity ward is in
the secret room of the Staff, answering the question of how it got cleaned out so fast. Sun concieved on the island and Jin
is no longer sterile. Whoa.
We also know what Juliet is up to, and we know she hates Ben. I think there's
still hope for her and that she may be instrumental as a game changer at a later time, but for right now she's just an
incredibly good liar carrying out Ben's wishes.
We also found out that the clock is ticking for Sun. She's 53 days into her pregnancy.
If Juliet was telling the truth when she said that no one who's conceived on the island reaches their third
trimester, then Sun has less than 4 months to live. I think Juliet is her only hope.
Speaking of Sun, I think they did a great job with the subtleties of everyday Korean
life. The vast difference between the classes and the whole pouring ritual when Sun meets Jin's Dad was right on, server
supporting right elbow with left palm, receiver placing both hands on cup. Important stuff in their culture. I love the
writer's attention to detail.
Of course the bombshell of the show was Naomi's announcement that flight 815 had
been found and the passengers were all dead. I don't think this is proof of anything other than the lengths that the Others
and Ben in particular will go to have test subjects for their fertility experiments. From what we've seen so far Mittelos
seems to have deep pockets, and if the others were to give up or fail in their quest to find a cure for the pregnancy issue,
it would surely mean the eventual extinction of their people. Pretty motivating factor.
Some more thoughts. My friend Philippe sent me a link to the translation of Naomi's
supposed thank you to Mikhail. It appears she said "I'm not alone" in Portugeuse.
I didn't think that she just said thank you. I didn't understand what she said, but Mikhail sure appeared
to be lying. We've seen some very practiced liars on this show, but Patchy isn't one of them.
If Naomi came by helicopter as we think, then there must be a ship or an island nearby as a helicopter doesn't hold
enough fuel to have come from too far away. Perhaps the rest of her group is back where she took off from and know
where she was going and why, and will send a search party when she doesn't return or check in.
It could also be that the backpack the guys found on their way to rescue her belongs to someone else that was in the
chopper with her. This could be who she is referring to. If this is the case, I would still be inclined to think that there
are others close by because there would still be the fuel issue.
You are also right on the
book they found, Philippe. It appears that Ardil-22 was the Brazilian release (in Portuguese as you say) of Catch-22.
Check it out here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0065528/releaseinfo
The guys in the monitoring
station at the end of last season were also speaking Portuguese. It would'nt be too much of a jump to think they
might be connected. Perhaps they all work for Penny...
One more thing. The writers seemed to make a point of showing us Naomi's tattoo. I
have a screencap of it, check it out and you'll see what I mean. Could this be another of their Easter eggs, or simply a red
herring?
